Personal Narrative: My First Day Of Being A Quinnite
Have you ever took a step back and realize that your life is about to change for the better? The first day of being a Quinnite I met a man who could make or break my career. He is a hard ass and will show you that you are the only one who is going to take the necessary step to a powerful move. President Michael J. Sorrell was that man, I was given an assignment on the first day meeting him and it was the first time I have ever received an F on the first day of class. He teaches Introduction to Quinnite Servant leadership and he is very political man. This is also the same day that I met a teacher that makes a class come to life with one single word: Reverend Dennis Williams. Reverend Williams teaches Christian Ethics, which is about the model of morality from a christian's perspective. This helps me to understand the way the christian’s see the things that goes on in the world. I also have a class that teaches me how to go into your own businesses, which is taught by Professor Gant. I thought that this is not the class I …show more content…
Over the weekend I got the opportunity to march in the unity parade, which was a parade for the community to come together and become one. They had many speaker that spoke a good word, like one person talked about how you would never know what someone has been through by what they look like. I’m happy with who I am today, just as everyone should be. But if I could change anything about myself, I’d want to have more motivation to do things. In the mornings before school I can barely get out of bed because I’m so tired and don’t want to go to school. I’m exceedingly intelligent but I don’t have any drive. I procrastinate on most of my work, and sometimes I just don’t want to do the work. Right now I’m rank 14 in my class but I could’ve been higher if I had any drive my freshman year. I don’t think about how my decisions now will impact me later and when I do, I don’t really care. I also don’t have much motivation to do things in sports activities. Last year I played volleyball and I never had that much playing time. Never being able…

The superhero universe is one that is vast and complex. Although my passion is helping others, if I could switch places with a superhero or villain of my choosing, I wouldn't hesitate to select a villain. More specifically, I would pick Harley Quinn. Although ostensibly, Harley is an obsessed psychopath who goes to great lengths just for her significant other, the Joker, her character goes much deeper. Harley, unlike most superheroes and villains, who are simply concerned with world domination or saving the world as a whole, is aware of social issues that are brought up today. For example, in one episode of the Batman television show, a police asks Harley to read him his rights in a sexual context, and she proceeds to teach him a lesson. Harley…

Last summer, I endeavored a life changing experience. American Legion Buckeye Boys State is a leadership program. It is the best Boys State program in the nation. On top of this, it is among the top programs for leadership, growth, and is a meeting of the greatest minds of Ohio, and by proxy, of the nation. But it’s so much more than that. From Day One, the minute you step off the bus, it instantly becomes an incredible experience. Everyone, people who have never even met before, are shaking everyone else’s hands, introducing themselves, and campaigning for positions before anyone has even dropped their luggage off. It was breathtaking, truly, and it made me realize that I too had to step up. Naturally, I did just that. I started meeting people,…

Here I am in honor classes, but why I’m not smart enough to be here. This is going to be too difficult for me. All I see when I look around are all these outstandingly intelligent people. The only reason I am here is because Mrs. Lee’s class was straightforward or maybe the other people in that class were not very bright. Whatever the reason, I am here and already homework on the first day of school, the other kids probably don’t have homework. I really don’t want to be here, I want to be the smart one again. I feel strange and uncomfortable when I have to speak out loud like if the people around me are judging me.…

It is also important to treat each other as equals, preventing the idea of dominance or superiority to go to one's head, as everyone's contribution to a common goal should be appreciated. In addition, I try my best to round-out myself in pursuing other interests though extracurricular activities. I have been taking piano lessons for over 5 years; From this, I learned early on that one's determination and integrity are essential things to build and keep in order to accomplish set goals. Furthermore, I try my best to seek new ways to benefit our community. In my church, I often take the position of a needed altar server if more servers are necessary in order to carry out the mass. I have also created numerous congratulatory cards for new mothers in hospitals during my freshman year. These experiences I have had have changed the approach I have taken on in life, allowed me to gain new skills and perspectives, and - hopefully - given me the qualities needed in a National Honor Society…

Being part of an institution such as Latino Scholars of Promise has instilled many values in me. The Latino Scholars of Promise is a program that is dedicated to preparing soon to be college students for the future by developing leadership and preparing them for the real world. It has affected me as an individual and has affected other aspects of my life. Being part of a program like this one has helped me view my surroundings in a different way. I am able to see things differently and act in a way in which those beliefs could be used. Without the help of this program I would not be able to learn and put into practice the four values I hold dear today: perseverance, valor and leadership. There are so many instances in which I am driven and determined to use them such as my education, helping others succeed, and most importantly inspiring my…

There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…

However, the more media coverage and the more conversation students were having around me, the more I knew that staying silent was not the choice I was going to make. It was then that I performed one of the most courageous acts I have at that moment in my life. I went to social platform and voiced my concerns about the accepted ignorance and lack of attention any racial, religious,or gender-based issues receive. Where before I choose to fit in, I now understood that I have every opportunity to change the course of the social environment of America- it starts by standing up for what I believe in now. My views are just as valid as anyone else's. I actively put myself out there to make one happen. Building up the confidence to be the role model, leader, and most importantly the person I want to be proved to be the best personal development that helped me grow more responsible for my actions and act compassionately to those around me. Overcoming my fear judgement from my peers enabled me to use my voice as a tool to preach love, equality, and justice and my choice to be a part of society by bringing awareness to others is one that I take pride in more than anything…

Personal background starts off small, it changes and grows over time into something big, it grows into an identity. Walking down the hallway at school, seeing someone standing alone, my first instinct is to make conversation, compliment, or even just smile at him or her. This instinct came from someone once telling me an act so small could turn a person's entire life around. As a kid, reading encyclopedias about random topics, consumed my time. Many days were spent coming home to find an injured wild animal in my dad's arms waiting to be saved. My dad would sit outside and draw animals, trees, and anything else he saw. Nothing excited me more than trying to draw whatever my dad drew, and as good as he did. Any assignment that was handed to…
