Personal Narrative: My First Day Of Softball
Softball has become an important part of my life ever since I joined the Centennial Lakes Little League in 2010. This was my first sport and I had never been on a team before. I had no prior sports skills because I had never played any before this one. The day I walked into the facility for the first time I knew it was just my first day of softball, but what I did not know was that it was the first day I would shape my personality and discover my priorities. Being only eleven years old I was not putting much thought into my future, but being involved in this association made it effortless to develop useful life long skills that would also help me develop and grow as a successful student. Communication is one of the most notable skills that

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” is a phrase that stays true to everyone especially during your freshman year of highschool. When I was fourteen, my baseball team went to a spring showdown baseball tournament. Spring showdowns have always been my favorite type of tournament since I played 10u travel ball. Although now I have a different perspective on these tournaments. On the way home from this particular tournament my face look like a baboons buttocks, with a big red swollen eye that was surrounded by brown and purple bruise. This was from a fouled off baseball, and I will never forget the event or the decisions I had to make. As a freshman I had to learn how to make educated, courageous, and tough life decisions.…

Avoiding all the curve balls that were thrown at them, the ChMS Baseball team took the necessary steps to get to an advanced level. With 28 wins and 8 losses, they practiced everyday to become more and more talented. “My favorite part about this season was that everyone got along and worked hard together,” commented Lucas Jennings. The head coach of the team is Coach Ayers, and the assistant coach is Coach Green. These two coaches pushed their players to their limits to make them the best of the best. Most of the 8th grade players will be moving up next year to high school baseball. “Next season I am mainly looking forward to playing with older high school students,” said Carter Frederick. Most of the players have been playing for a long time…

“You did not make the softball team” is a sentence I heard almost invariably. I had just moved to Texas, where I was thrust into a whole new world of sports. Athletes played year round, unlike the north where sport seasons were only six months long because of the cold, likewise, the competition was unlike anything I had ever seen. I tried out for over a dozen teams, from the very best to the very worst and did not make one. Inevitably, there was always a girl who was faster, stronger, and overall better than I was. I was eventually given a choice, to quit softball and pursue another hobby or continue to play softball and refuse to let others beat me. I choose the ladder.…

Where do I start with the many memories we've shared. Whether they where at school, on the softball field, or even on the basketball court in elementary. I grew up playing sports with you, with your parents as my coaches. I remember in our elementary school days, you would bring a lunchable every day and I would eat the school lunch, and on pizza days you would trade your candy for my pepperonis. Everyone knew how much you loved pepperonis and Coca-Cola. Even while playing parks and rec softball on the hottest days of the summer, while everyone was chugging Gatorade or water, Tab would be drinking coke, with her hair down, in the scorching hot lol. We use to beg tab to put her hair in a ponytail but she would never do it lol I remember the…

The wind blew around me as I rushed over to the softball field where I saw two girls the coach. I had been anticipating this for a week and it was finally here, my first ever softball practice. I recognized the two girls from junior high and could still remember their names, Sadie and Blake, and was able to meet a new friend whose name I have forgotten already. I also met Coach Smith. I had never been to the Lehi Sports Complex, but just being on the fields there was enough to excite me. We spent the entire hour and forty minutes catching, throwing, and batting.…

My junior year of high school my school softball coach expressed to me that I would never be as talented as the starting varsity catcher. I was sixteen years old and of course I thought I could handle anything that was thrown at me; i felt invincible. After that season of softball that fall, I knew I would never be the same. My coach had changed something inside me and I could never go back. I had felt a sense of failure that I had never felt before. From that point on I told myself that I was going to be the best cardio thoracic surgeon this world had ever seen. I know that everything happens for a reason, because I know that God has a Plan. God put my coach in my life to better prepare me for the future. My coach made me feel like I was…

Hi , I’m Lilli Burton . I am in sixth grade, and play baseball with the boys. A barrier i have faced is trying to play baseball because I am a girl. Whenever I try - out , they say “ She would be great at softball.” I face the barrier in Summer and Fall when it is time for baseball. A lot of coaches are sceptical about putting me on their team, but I don’t let that stop me from trying and trying again.Until someone accepts me for who i am. To overcome this barrier , I used integrity by sticking up for my beliefs and not always caring about what people think of me . I also used determination by never giving up and try my best to get better and better everyday. My barriers are similar to Jackie Robinson’s because we both wanted to do something…
