Personal Narrative: My First Game
My First Game A specific event that greatly changed the course of my life is the day that I attended my first sporting event. Shocking, right? On this day, I discovered, for the first time, that I had a large interest in watching live sports. The day of the game was the thirteenth of March, in 2011. The location was Ricoh Coliseum, on Toronto’s Exhibition Grounds. The teams were the Toronto Marlies and the Texas Stars. My parents had decided to take me to a hockey game. They let me choose the game, and I picked this particular one. I think my reasoning for picking it was that I liked the Texas Stars’ logo. I don’t remember much of the game, I just remember having tons of fun. One thing that I do remember is that Texas won in a shootout.

THUMP! The ball was hit into deep left, and it had some distance to it. The infield stared as the ball made contact with the bat and rocketed over their heads. They probably should have covered their base or gone out and get the ball from the outfield but they knew that it was all or nothing. The outfield would determine the fate of the game. The left fielder ran and ran. Finally, the ball came down from space and into the Blake Lindsly’s sure handed glove. Out number two. He looked at the pitcher with an expression that said dodged a bullet there. The team erupted into laughter. Even the coach joined in. Sure, the game was intense, but baseball was a fun game and it took plays like that to have fun.…

I remember the one day, it was early in the morning and I was going to my basketball game. We stopped to help this lady get home by giving her a ride. Then once we dropped the lady off at her house we drove off and had to stop for some deer to cross the road. Once the deer crossed the road, we were finally off to the game, we made it to the game with time to spare. With the time we had to spare I had some biscuits and gravy, and i devoured them in seconds and had some orange juice after.…

Many events throughout an individual's life will help to shape the kind of person they become. These events can be both depressing and inspirational. Examples of life altering events may include the loss of a loved one, the birth of a child, near-death experiences, or even participating in large scale events that comply with either their life goals or career paths. One event that has helped to shape my own life was attending the NHSFR, or National High School Finals Rodeo. I qualified as the only sophomore in bull riding, being the only competitor in the top 8 that was not an outgoing senior that year.…

I had just finished my freshman year of high school, now playing on my school’s summer baseball team. It was a perfect summer night on the baseball field; playing against one of the teams I disliked the most, Ava. It was always a close game playing them; they had good players who always played hard. Going into the 7th inning the game was tied, three to three. I came up to the plate wanting to help my team win the game. As the pitch came in my eyes lit up, it was a fastball right down the middle. I swung and hit the ball into left field.…

Ever since my freshmen year of high school, football has been the only thing that has mattered to me. I was given the opportunity to dress varsity as a freshman and being around that atmosphere, being on a successful team was intoxicating, especially to me at such a young age. I loved every minute of it, and I knew I wanted to be the one out on the field making the plays I watched that whole year. I made it my goal from that year on, I was going to give everything it took over the next three years in order to be the best football player possible.…

American climate scientist, Mark Caine, exclaims, “The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself”. Beginning my high school career, I thought high school would be an easy transition because I was accustomed to getting good grades in grammar school, so I did not put as much of an effort as I could have in my studies. The first biology test arrived, and I thought I was knowledgeable on the subject matter so I briefly looked over the material. Approximately a week later I got my test back and I was not satisfied with my grade. That happened for most of my first tests in each of my classes. I learned I would not be satisfied with my grades if I continued to keep those…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…

On a scorching hot day, I feel a slight breeze as my hair falls above my eyes. We are all excited to finally go to the playground after a day of hard work. On a typical day, my friends and I play competitive kickball games that usually end in an argument. But today, I smelled the musty and sharp sense of rain from last night. I looked to see there was mud covering the whole field, which resulted in the teachers howling at us to get off. They informed us that we had to go to the sand to play.…
