Personal Narrative: My First Time Tubing
First Time Tubing...

My heart beats fast like it’s in a race. It’s the start of Summer and the Sun is shining right on my face as the Water is hitting me like tiny rock pebbles sliding across my cheeks. It’s been awhile since me and my sister, Lane, went tubing on Gun Lake. After we started to speed up,The Tube jerked every witch way and skidded across the dark blue sparkly water and the water winced at me. I started to feel the fun, happy emotions inside of me.I remember when I was little and did not cared if we would fall off or not. I wish I felt like that now. My heart started to speed up as I turned to my sister with a nervous feeling. “ It’s OKAY!” she said sounding annoyed. I felt this crack in my upper back as the red and white Tube jerked more and more. It was like we were going through a forest of waves. My stomach was dropping up and down like it’s bouncing on a trampoline or it dropped from a high cliff. My tight grip was not so tight anymore. I turn my head. There was a HUGE wave heading right for us.

This is so so so so scary!” My strength of my grip was becoming looser and looser. I saw my sister with this big, giant smile on her pale, wet, freckled face. “Wa-who!!!” Lane shouted.

We finally fell off and I thought it was so amazing and fun.
“I can't believe I just did that!” I said proudly of myself. We started swimming for the tube and tried to get back on. We were laughing so hard it was so crazy!

I fell off my first tube. I’m very proud of myself. I realized that doing something that you haven’t done before, isn't just taking a big step, it’s about opening a new, fun, journey that you haven't entered yet. We laughed and laughed some more and enjoyed the rest of our amazing, fun, tubing day. I really do hope we do this more often and enjoy the sun as we tube across the dark blue wavy, shiny

Looking back at the situation I say to myself that I was an idiot to even go on that slide. I knew I couldn't swim and I didn't check how the deep the pool was. I used to have nightmares about me walking around blue mist struggling for air and every time I died I would wake up. I barely told people about the whole almost drowning thing, but at the moment it’s all thrown out the window.…

I was eventually led to the aircraft elevator and as we went up, we were graced with an ice cold, seawater shower being fired at us from several fire hoses above. Cold and shivering, we reached the flight deck and were led to the beginning of a long gauntlet of several challenges we were to complete. Bobbing for apples in tubs of some nasty liquid, jumping through “polly-hoops,” “polly-sliding” down a long wet plastic slip n’ slide—the course went on and on. We filled through the course, one after another, each needing to complete each task before crawling to the next. I went from the bow to the stern, trudging my way through each before I came to a large tub, ten feet long, filled with green-dyed water.…

The day I took off on my 4 wheeler, and left my Mom and Dad in the dust. It started out awesome and fun, then turned out to be very scary. It was July 4, 2013, my family and I loaded up our 4 wheelers for a fun day in the great outdoors. We all unloaded our 4 wheelers, then took off out into the desert. I wanted to see how fast I could go around the sharp corners on dirt roads. It was so much. I was having so much fun seeing how fast I could drive my 4 wheeler, around the sharp dirt road corners, I never looked back.…

We made our way along slowly for a few minutes before I was saved by a guy on a Zamboni, like the one seen in Figure 2, who made us clear the ice for thirty minutes. For that half hour I felt like a fish back in water, but my mind was not at ease; I was dreading going back out onto the ice. Figure 2. Zamboni (“Frank Zamboni”). When we finally did go back, I was a little more cautious getting onto the ice and we started back where we had left off.…

Trepidation filled my head. Despite the negative 10 degree weather, sweat pooled in my gloves and rolled down my face. Thoughts raced through my mind; a wrong execution could mean death. 11 years of ski lessons had cultivated to this one moment. My life was on the line, yet a wave of excitement shook me. I took a look down at the jump that had come to dominate Joe’s backyard, replacing his childhood swing set. The jump was sizable, but not gargantuan. From previous hits I noticed its “poppy” lip - skier talk for a jump that sends you up rather than out - which is ideal for the trick I was about to attempt: a backflip.…

I have always loved going to the lake, but this time was a little bit different, we had a boat. It wasn’t a very big boat, but it was big enough to put a smile on my face. Not only did we have a boat, but we had a tube as well. Every other year I was told I wasn’t allowed to go in the tube; but after repetitive asking to ride in it my Dad finally said yes.…

“Stay with me,” a familiar voice whispered, and the hand wiping away my tears stroked my hair softly. I knew the touch well. It was a touch I had first thought was rough and firm, but once I’d gotten used to it, it had become gentle and loving. It was a touch I’d never thought I’d feel again. Not since the incident. . .…

He looked around for anything to help me out of the water. I was six feet beneath him. I commanded myself into motion. For my feet to grow titanium roots into those damn rocks - new limbs if need be. A neon fury lit up in my brain and in one clean swoop of madness - I burst from the water.…

First, we went to the office to sign all the waivers, which made me really nervous for my life. Since we had a long wait, we sat down with the other people who were in our group. I met an elderly man and his wife; they were very polite and friendly. It was their first time parasailing also. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, it was time for us to board the boat. We had to walk across the street and down a long walkway to get to the dock. As we were boarding the boat I almost slipped and fell into the water.…

My dad and I got onto the Jet Ski. It was almost shaped like a motorcycle. It was red and yellow. I was very excited because I had never been on one before. My dad and I took off our glasses because we didn’t want to lose them in the rough, raging ocean. Without my glasses I couldn’t see that much but, I didn’t think much of it because I was so excited to ride a Jet Ski. After we got on, the guy we had rented it from showed my dad the basic controls. Front, back, right and left. Then my dad started the Jet Ski and off we went!…
