Personal Narrative: My Fitness Pal
For a while now, I have been using an application called My Fitness Pal in which I regularly report what I have eaten for the day. The application authorizes me a certain amount of calories that I should intake depending on my weight and a goal that I had set for myself. It also calculates how many steps I have walked throughout the day, which should be about 10,000 every day or more. For HPE, I had to use Super Tracker that is basically the same application as My Fitness Pal. Throughout the week, I was doing food dairies, in which I would submit everything I ate for the day. Slowly, I started to realize that for the most part I was never reaching my calorie intake limit. It was either always below or barley reaching a thousand. I know for …show more content…
The first goal that I have set for myself is to completely change my sleeping schedule to where I have a bedtime and am sleeping for eight hours. I’ve noticed that dark circles have appeared below my eyes, which indicates me that my body is not receiving the dose of sleep it needs. My second goal for myself is to always have breakfast in the mornings because breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast is the meal that keeps you energized to keep you going through the day. I personally always skipped breakfast because I always though breakfast was never important, but was I wrong. You actually gain more weight than you lose by skipping breakfast because you body needs more fuel. By waking up earlier, I will be able to have breakfast for myself and give my body the food it’s always asking for. My last goal is to always reach the 10,000 steps that can always be acquired by exercising more frequently. The 10,000 steps a day is a good number to reach, any amount of activity beyond what you're currently doing will likely benefit your health. So far, I am on track with my goals that I have set for myself and slowly am starting to notice changes.
There are many modifications that I would like to change, but for now I am taking baby steps, so I can truly transform and transition my body. My biggest fear is that by not taking care

The four nutritional or exercise goals that I have come up with is to exercise at least 30 minutes a day for five days a week. Also for nutrition I can add more vegetables and fruits to my diet. An example would be when going out to eat I could substitute vegetables for french-fries or fruits in place of pies. Another exercise goal would be to start using the pedometer that I bought several months ago while I was working. I can use it to set goals for myself by adding more steps in my daily routine throughout each day. Nutritional wise I can start by planning ahead by making my shopping list for meals and snacks for a week so this way I will now exactly what I am going for before I…

The goals I have set for myself should be easy to meet. First, I am going to eat less red meat in my diet. Part of that goal is to replace some of the red meat I would normally add to my diet with nuts and fish. I live in an area where fresh salmon and tuna are plentiful and affordable. I also have walnut and hazelnut trees close by, so adding these items to my diet should be simple.…

Throughout my journey through this class I have been able to think of many goals to set for myself to allow me to be healthier. First, I will start with my nutritional goals. To express his believe about stretching one’s limit, the great Guy Finley had once stated, “The limit of your present understanding is not the limit of your possibilities.” Inspired by his quote, I, Giang Pham, believe that I would be a valuable member of McGarvin’s Academic Pentathlon team. Based on my personal knowledge of Pentathlon, I have first-handedly experience the soul of a Pentathlete through various study sessions at Ethan Allen. My hobby had to go, a new hobby had emerged: bodybuilding. Bodybuilding had given me a satisfaction that my previous hobby did not give, the satisfaction of working; that patience and efforts lead to greater satisfaction than momentary things like video…

My goal is to become either a physical therapist or an athletic trainer and help out many athletes who struggle to get back to their normal body. I had two injuries during two consecutive high school golf seasons: a muscle strain in the back and a collarbone fracture. After a week of physical therapy after my surgery on my right collarbone, I started to be able to carry my backpack with one shoulder and write with my right hand. Two month after physical therapy, I was able to hit my driver. Then I realized something quite surprising; as I started to practice, my driver started to go further and further. My coaches had the same reaction as they both asked me if the story of the collarbone incident was actually true.…

The alarm clock screamed before the first roasters song, I looked at my watch, “5:30 again” and I murmured to myself. I rolled out of bed and my feet hit the cold tiles of my first college dorm once again. This morning was different though, I felt oddly energetic this morning. My lungs where full and I had already recovered from a very hard work out from the day prior. I did my usual morning routine of getting my running attire, drinking a bottle of water and eating a whole grain bagel. I checked my phone on my way to the gym and an usual amber alert was delivered to my phone, “Atmospheric conditions highly unstable due to a jet stream of pure oxygen passing 1500ft above sea level.” I read the latest report and the oxygen content was just at thirty two percent as of 5:50 am. With no real danger present, other than higher chance of fires, Coach Provence had us do one of our normal…
