I parked my car on Devon Avenue in front of Shore Galleries and took a quick glance through the car window. Shore Galleries sign was attached to the building above the main entrance and windows were completely tinted. Shore Galleries was located next to a dry cleaning business. Unless you knew the nature of business of Shore Galleries, not many people would realize that Shore Galleries is a firearms store with an indoor gun range. I sat in my car for a few minutes to clear my head and thought about things that I should pay a closer attention to once I get inside.…
It all started out at the reefs of the cold winter season in the Pacific Ocean. Against all odds there was Iro the jellyfish leader realized upon his jellyfish species that they were running out of food on their land. Benko and Seno the twins, the leaders of the sea turtles ruled the next land after them and made an agreement between Iro since long time ago during the massacre of the jellyfish and turtles for land. It was to never cross each others place or another war would break out between each other . Slowly dying jellyfish after jellyfish, Iro knew he had to do something and that was to cross the boundary that separates the jellyfish and the turtles and find a spot for sheltering with food for the jellyfish.…
As I stood on the board, I imagined myself soaring through the air, picturing every move I made until sliding into the water as perfectly as possible. I competed as a Springboard Diver for six years. Diving helped me discover and further explore the nature behind what motivates me and keeps me mental strong and capable, which is now an immense aspect of who I am. Although I am no longer a Springboard Diver, it still influences aspects of my everyday life. Diving is unique in how it is more mentally taxing than it is physically.…
Despite non-selection, my pursuit of this prestigious and challenging position will not be deterred. My naval career, I have continually sought positions of greater responsibility and produced exceptional results in each of those positions. While I take great pride in being a Chief Petty Officer, I feel the experience I have acquired as a Chief will benefit any wardroom I am a member of. It is important to note that I did not submit an LDO-CWO package for FY-14 due to the time constraints I experienced while standing up Naval Beach Unit SEVEN with an under staffed office and operational commitment.…
But our naval might is about much more than cutting-edge technology. It’s about the Sailors who make up our force. It is about their ingenuity, their can-do attitude and fortitude in the face of hardship.…
I thought the field trip was very interesting. All areas of the museum had parts that intrigued me, and in many areas I could connect what I saw to our science class. My favorite part of the trip was going into the exhibit of human origins. My least favorite was the Hall of Ocean Life.…
There is a fire that ignites within me when I talk about my aspirations in life. A fire that burns so brightly that it can not only be seen physically in the way my hazel eyes light up, but felt radiating from my soul through the conversations that others have with me. Even when I was younger this fire always burned within me to better the world and aid those suffering in it. For some of my friends this same fire manifested into them becoming doctors, for me however it manifested into becoming a marine mammal veterinarian.…
It was a ghastly type of day in northern Minnesota, specifically Seagull Creek Fishing Camp. No phone service to be found, television to be watched or people to interact with. Yes, there was the old couple that lived down the bumpy and torn apart road but besides that you would have drive almost three hours to see any civilization. The camp was run and maintained by a guy named Mike Berg. He lived in the town back 131 miles, Grand Marais. He owns three of the four cabins located on the camp, while the other is cabin set as a museum of the camp. It holds some past of the camp and why it was so successful in the past years. After waking up that with the sun just blaring on my face, my hands lifted up to my face to wipe off any eye…
The warm ocean breeze blows across my face as we are loading onto the cruise ship. It is the summer of 2016, and my very first cruise. I brought my friend, Mariah, along with me for my first experience. We are on our way to Puerto Rico from Florida, which means we will be going through the Bermuda Triangle. There have been a lot of rumors about people disappearing or being transported into the future when they go through the Bermuda Triangle. I did not believe the rumors, but as we board the ship they are constantly running through my head. Mariah gives me a drink of water and assures me that nothing is going to happen. We are finally on the ship and getting cozy in our room. As we set off for Puerto Rico, I decide to take a nap to try and get my mind off of things.…
Hi, i'm Sheil the shark! I live in the coastal and offshore waters of South Carolina. I live with my two brothers, but I don't have a mom or dad. Me and my brothers all fend for ourself but when necessary team up to defeat and eat, bigger prey. We love to eat fish and invertebrates, as well as seals, sea lions, dolphins and much more! I love living in the really salty water! Me and my brothers like to terrorize the schools of fish near us, and maybe get a bite to eat. My favorite food is salmon, but I don’t see them a lot, so I eat as many as I…
A marine biologist examines the functions of all living organisms in the sea and estuaries. They are able to conduct multiple experiments and can choose to specialise in various sizes of marine life. I am interested in becoming a marine biologist because sea creatures and science are two of my passions, especially conducting experiments to determine solutions for animal sicknesses.…
I am a bottlenose dolphin. I live in tropical waters worldwide. I am a resident dolphin along the coasts of Georgia, Florida, Texas, Southern California and gulf of California. I love to live in a Coastal zone because is the most productive and valuable ecosystem in the earth. Carbon absorption, oxygen production, habit for creatures and biodiversecity, are just a few of the services, Many people think that I am fish because of my shape, but I am mammal. Unlike fish, I breathe through lungs not gills. In other for me to survive in the ocean, I have to frequently trip to the surface of the water to catch breath: carbon dioxide is excreted and oxygen taken up. I also have a circulatory system similar to humans called cardiovascular system.…
My first home for many years. This land comes rarer to me as the day…

When I was six or seven years old, I was obsessed with The Little Mermaid. I would watch it over and over. One day after I watched the movie, my dad brought me some fish sticks. I asked him, “Is this like the fish from The Little Mermaid?” He wanted me to eat it, so he said, “No, this is a different type of fish.” Then I said, “Darn. I bet those fish would taste yummy.” I’ve changed a lot over the years. I believe you should help keep all animals alive and well.…
