I had the incredible chance of interviewing a close family friend, Bao Nguyen. Bao is a Senior IT Support at one of the top school of engineer, Georgia Institute of Technology, the school he graduated from. He had 10+ years of experience working as an IT support for top company such as BCG (The Boston Consulting Group). Bao had a positive attitude and was a very helpful interviewee. Throughout the interview, Bao talked about his time during college and the experiences he learned that lead him choose IT Support as a career.
College/Job Summary
Bao and I talked about how he got started college choosing to pursue a bachelor of Computer Science. It was a lot of challenges from learning the latest information about technology and businesses to finding internships or part-time job to get some experience before graduating. What fascinated me the most about Bao during his college time was that he got accepted into UGA and Mercer School of Pharmacy. Even though, pharmacy school was a big achievement, he had already set his goal to graduate with a degree in Computer Science. He gets to work and meet with many intelligent people at the company. The company also offers a great benefit package that includes health insurance, discount lunches, and paid vacations. What he dislikes about the job was the overload of work at times. Within the IT industry, it is very relaxing when problem doesn’t occur, but when it does, it can be very stressful trying to troubleshoot a complicated problem. One other dislikes he mentioned was that his department only 3 members, therefore, all technical issues and deadlines must be responded in a timely manner no matter what.
