Personal Narrative: My Journey To Liberty University
I began working at Keeter my first semester at College of the Ozarks. On my first day of work, the supervisor handed me a gleaming gold name tag that not only had my name but the state I came from. I watched as others put their nametags on, and I quickly discovered that most of them read Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I looked down at my nametag and felt a sense of uniqueness, knowing no one in the room had the state of Virginia. I soon began to realize that my nametag sparked curiosity when the guests saw how far I had traveled. Guest after guest would ask the same question, “How did you end up here?” I answered this question dozens of times within a day. There were days that I would begrudgingly tell the Keeter guests my journey to this College, but never once did I fail to cherish the opportunity I was given. …show more content…
My parents advised me not to attend my local community college because it lacked a focus on creating a challenging academic environment. The obvious choice for me became Liberty University, which boasted in becoming the largest Christian university in America. With only three hours, separating me from home and many of my friends also applying there, Liberty appeared to be the best option. Despite Liberty’s many advantages, I kept looking for the perfect college. One day I had a conversation about my struggle to find a college to a mentor of mine. My mentor informed how he had recently visited a college in Missouri where his friend worked called College of the Ozarks. As he began to describe the college, I became more and more intrigued. He encouraged me to apply there and connected me with his friend who worked at the college. It did not bother me that I did not know where Missouri was on the map or that I had never stepped foot there. As I researched the college I finally became sure of at least one thing, I was sure that I belonged at College of the

Many people turn to a Christian college to fulfill their ‘checklist’ of a perfect college. However, a Christian liberal arts education is often misunderstood or underrated. What is the benefit of a school that offers this type of education? Why attend a Christian liberal-arts college? Why does a Christian college even exist? In Arthur F. Holmes’ book, “The Idea of a Christian College”, these questions – and more – are examined and answered. The four main themes I took from Holmes’ book are as follows: there is a distinct niche and purpose for a Christian liberal arts education; faith and learning are integrated and is thus a unique aspect to a Christian college; academic freedom is an integral part of a Christian education; and, the purpose of an education is more than to simply become trained or knowledgeable in one specific subject.…

This is because, when I first came to Napa Valley college, I had also just obtained my first job. The job which would allow me to help sustain myself and help my family financially. I was not used to this type of schedule when I first came into Napa College. This Is because I didn't know how to manage my time, and simply didn't know what to make as my major primary. I entered school in August of 2009 and did not focus on my studies. After just one year my GPA was a 1.376, because I did not have the drive that I had in high school to succeed. After a couple of years away from Texas Christian University, while attending a 2-year college, I realized what I wanted to do with my life, sparking the motivation I had been searching for. I then decided to return to TCU and fix my awful GPA, which I managed to do with hard work, determination, and appropriate priorities. After one year of nonstop studying and focus, I have managed to raise my GPA to a 2.777, removing myself from academic probation and qualifying for opportunities I was not eligible before. This was difficult for me because I also work part-time…

The event that I choose to follow summer fest was a simple and casual visit to the wellness and recreational center, fancy way of saying the gym. Upon my first ever visit to Florida International University I still remember at our freshmen orientation entering the gym and thinking to myself this seems like a place that I will be visiting often during my four year tenure at school. And boy was I right, the facility was clean and professional looking very much like a professional gym would appear, the staff where all kind and ready to assist you if help was ever necessary, something that I truly valued. I was extremely exited to take a spinning class at the FIU gym, I had only ever heard positive reviews and I was looking forward to the experience as well. Personally I am obsessed with fitness so any class, or activity is something that I love to experience which is what drove me to experience the class myself, and did, I love it. When I got out of that class I was sweating so much, I felt like I had gone on a run around the world and it so amazing, the instructor knew exactly what she was doing and had no problem helping you out if you needed it, the music was fun and exiting extremely up tempo. Overall I can only rave about the experience, it was positive and motivational. It has truly inspired me to no matter how stressed I may be I can always go down to the gym and relieve my stress while gaining a benefit as well.…

Good right? Well they’re different and more culturally thriving students in the world earning for excellence. Here again Denison attempts to attract both party’s of parents, and students. We envision our students’ lives as based upon rational choice, a firm belief in human dignity and compassion unlimited by cultural, racial, sexual, religious or economic barriers, and directed toward an engagement with the central issues of our time. Further more we are presented another fancy’ statement by the institution. But What Does Denison motto/mission statement really brings the table? Denison University, a small liberal arts college, is set in the proportionally small town of Granville, Ohio. The state capital, Columbus, is about 25 miles away, and students can get there in the free Big Red Express shuttles, which run three days a week.
