Personal Narrative: My Journey To Western New England University

Better opportunity what leads people to change. As a person who has been one of the top academically, I always try the get the best from anything I do. When I first started my undergraduate journey I went to Western New England university. However, it was straggling to success because I could not adapt with living in Springfield. Then I transferred to Wentworth of technology, my first semester was much better than the one I had in western New England University. However, the biomedical engineering program was not as expected. As a result, I decided to transfer again, and first place that come to my mind was Boston university. Since BU has one of the best biomedical programs in the US, it would be the perfect place to extract my full potential. After studying English as language at CELOP for two years, I finally got my acceptance in Western New England University. However, there was only one problem which is that it is located in Springfield. Leaving Boston was a very hard decision because the city became as a home. On the other hand, I have to achieve the goal I left my country for, so I decided to start in Western New England university. That movement was not as easy as I expected, I could not adapt with Springfield’s live, and that reflected on my grades. My grades went
from A and A- on the worst case scenario to hardly getting a B+, also my GPA went from 3.9 in High school to 2.4. I was very frustrated with my grades. Then I decided to go back to Boston, and the only choice was Wentworth Institute of Technology. Thus, I transferred there. The Next chapter in my story was in Wentworth. I started in the fall of 2016. I felt that this semester will be much better than the one in western New England, and as expected it was much better even though the workload was much more than western new England. I realized that the decay that happened to my grades was because I could not live in Springfield. After the first semester in Wentworth I realized that the biomedical program is a new program, and I can’t reach my full potential if I stayed there. Thus, I decided to transfer. However, this time the transfer was not the same as the first one since there are two factors that have to be taken into account which are being in Boston and a strong biomedical engineering.
The only university that can be perfect for me is Boston university since it has one of the best biomedical engineering programs in the country. Also since I studied in CELOP for two years, I’m used to be in BU campus, and since I took two classes during the summer of 2016, I’m acquainted with the school’s policy and way of teaching. All of these reason made me more comfortable with my decision. Now I am certain that BU is that right choice that would be the perfect ending for my undergraduate
journey.
