Personal Narrative: My Jr High Choir Classroom
My Jr High choir teacher, Mrs. Bradbury, was the most challenging teacher I have ever had. She would never cut the choir a break, and never stopped pushing us to be our best; “I can’t” was not acceptable to her. I hated her with every fiber of my being, and every time she spoke all I wanted to do was sew her lips together. It wasn’t until the beginning of ninth grade when I realized she was amazing. Once I let my guard down, we instantly connected. Recognizing how much I loved to sing and becoming one of the top singers in my choir was thanks to her. I started working for hours every day on my songs, staying late after class for help, and going to voice lessons. I excelled exponentially and Mrs. Bradbury noticed it. In March of my ninth grade year, I got a letter addressed to me in the mail; it was in a big manila folder and had a very formal sticker with my name on it. I was extremely nervous to open it; I thought I had done something wrong even though I couldn’t fathom what. Slowly, I pinched the two metal tabs together to fit through the tiny hole in the flap of the envelope; I reached inside and slid out a fancy cream paper. It had gold designs around the edge, a big gold seal saying “Utah Ambassadors”, and my name in bold print right in the middle of …show more content…
My phone was glued to my hand by the sweat of my hand, I held it all though the night. I had waited for this day for over a year, and I couldn’t understand what was holding me back from jumping out of my bed and leaping into the car. Dragging my feet over to my dresser, I slipped on the mandatory blue jersey polo and cringed as I saw myself in the mirror; I looked like a mess. While eating a blueberry bagel, I grabbed my carry on and suit case and headed out to the car. I could barely keep my eyes open and my stomach was filing with butterflies the closer we got to the

“For God did not give us the Spirit of fear, but the Spirit of a power, love, and a sound mind”- 2 Timothy 1:7. The Key to confidence is stepping out on faith. I actually gained my confidence by leading my first song in church. Of course I started crying because I was nervous, but then I stopped and I knew that God was with me. There are certain situations when I still get nervous, like playing my first basketball game of the season or even when I’m taking a test, but I’ve learned that if I’ve done everything in my power to succeed, then God will take care of the rest.…

With a wide spread of my arms and a clench of my fist, the last notes of Panic! at the Disco's song, "Victorious" came to an end. As I called the band to attention and to march off the football field, I knew the marching season for the Mead High School Marching Band was coming to an end after another year. I remember feeling jittery and excited despite the fact that I was composed before our eight minute marching show began. I hopped off of my podium, used my shaky hands to disassemble the platform, and exited the field to catch up with the band. Our performance at the St Vrain School District Band Night marked the end to my high school marching band career that started just four years prior.…

The morning went so fast, I was slightly nervous about seeing Josie again since it had been three months since our last encounter. I put on a t-shirt and shorts on then stood in front of the mirror as I splashed my face with water. I looked at the clock and saw it was 11:50 so I grabbed my helmet and jacket as I pushed my motorcycle out the garage. It wasn’t until I got to the street before Subway that I realised my phone had fallen out of my pocket and I had left my wallet at home. I knew then I was going to be late and Josie was going to…

Five years from now I hope my work environment scenario is somewhere in my speech therapy classroom at an elementary school. There will be funny motivational posters on the walls and lots of bright stimulating colors and decorations everywhere. There will be a little reading area in a corner with bean bags, a patterned rug, and a cubby style shelf filled with books for reading levels from pre-k to 7th grade. I’ll have a speech phonic flag banner at the front of the classroom with all the consonant blends and consonant digraphs and a cork board with a list of common issue articulation words. There’s no curriculum to follow so I’ll be free to create individualized lesson plans for each student. In this scenario, a student and I are sitting in the reading area celebrating…

Everyone has that one teacher that they admired so much or made an enormous difference in their life. My teacher would have to be my high school orchestra teacher; his name is mr----. He helped me become a much better musician. Whenever I was struggling with a piece of music, he would take his time to help me in that section. With all his help, I became such a good player that I was placed as first chair for two years in a row! Of course, being first chair and all, you have to be a good leader to lead the section. At first, it was something that I struggled with, but Mr. Carpenter helped me do that as well by telling me how to handle many different situations.…

It was a bright, cloudless sunny Thursday afternoon around 2pm; my mother and I decided to go grocery shopping. As she drove through the driveway, she saw a DHL delivery package dropped in front of the house dated third of March, 1988. When opening the package, an urgent warning letter was address to her from my elementary school Principal. Immediately, she opened the letter and read through it, her eyes turn red and started shouting on me! Saying; why don't you concentrate on your study? Instantly, I started crying so heavily. All of a sudden, she calm down and looked at me with complete love and said; "This is just a warning letter." Then, assure me that she will be there for me in terms of helping me with my studies and daily homework. In addition, she explains that one must never give up and to keep trying. In fact, the mistake I made was not concentrating on my education, which led to a warning letter from the school Principal that I would not be allowed to return for my last year of elementary school because I had not maintained 5 passed subjects. As a matter of fact, not going to school regularly, not doing my homework, and not doing some extra reading at home had caused the letter sent to my parents. This mistake got me in trouble with my mother.…

While reflecting back on my time at my primary school, I could vividly remember my teacher Miss Cameel , she was my Standard Three teacher. Miss Cameel inspired me to become a teacher by the way she interacted with us, she was very patient, caring and understanding to all her students and I admired that about her. The manner that she taught was creative, fun and it was easy for us to learn and concentrate. She treated us like her own and that made me appreciated her even more. I remembered after school I would impersonate Miss Cameel, I would pretend to teach just like her and while growing up becoming a teacher was always my aspiration.…
