Personal Narrative: My Lotso Bear
Hello, I’m Lotso Bear! Yes, the narrator. I’m telling you the story. Wait. Which story again? I suppose I’ll tell you how I got here… I remember it like it was yesterday… but it’s a good thing it wasn’t yesterday. . I was manufactured on June 27th, 1936 in California. I remember my first days, dreaming of who would pick me to be their Lotso Bear. I was sitting on the bland teddy aisle. A day went by. Then another. And another. Weeks went by. Then months. Not one single person had come down this isle. I waited. At night, we could get up, stretch, talk quietly, or SLEEP! I love sleep. You know, when you can recharge your cotton filling. That’s what we teddies have inside of us. Teddies came and went. I got new neighbors, and saw ages from one …show more content…
For twelve years I got to see everything she did. We went to Disneyland once! It was awesome! My favorite ride was Splash Mountain. First, we went into the boat thing. Markie was in front of us and Randall behind us. They are her brothers. We creaked up the slope and turned left. We went to the right and through a short tunnel. Small figures were everywhere, as we slowly went up a steep hill. When we got to the top water was all over the place. I had wondered why. KA-BOOM!!!!!!! We were going down the biggest hill ever! Water was getting in my hair. Markie, Lisa, and Randall were screaming at the top of their lungs. Thirty feet, twenty feet ten feet, SPLASH!!!! I got so wet, that I wouldn’t have to take bath for a month! The water was up to Lisa’s feet in the boat. It was slow for the rest of the ride, but there was a lot of chatter going on, but mom ands dad looked scared. “Want to go on It’s a small world?” asked Helen. Melvin just nodded. College, here we come! Lisa got into Notre Dame! So, don’t mind me just sitting in a box for four more years… oops. Where was I going with that again? Never mind. Wait. Not four years of waiting. Eight years. Wake me up when it’s time to go.

My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. He lived in the hospital on an artificial ventilation for 97 days and later he had to continue physical therapy for at least ten years as he was completely paralyzed. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. I learned that with dedication, determination and diligence we can achieve our dream in life…

We have to!”, as I pointed to the gigantic blue and grey water slide, my mother's face scrunched up with disgust. For she doesn't like roller coaster nor huge water slides, exactly like this one just yonder. She turned back around and told my brothers and me to put some pep in our step so we can get to the rides, as if she didn't hear a word I just said. As my family moved along, I trudged behind because I knew we weren't going to the enormous water slide. After we went through the park and rode the other little water rides, and roller coasters, and of course the lazy river we decided to call it a day and head home, but since we were on the other half of the park, to walk back we had to pass the huge, terrifying, grey and blue water…

As I look to the scenery I acknowledge its beautiful details. It is a wonder of the world that soon may fell between the cracks. When I got to St. Vincent’s hospital I thought I was in labor but the doctor said my water wasn’t broken yet. So I had to walk up and down the hallway for the baby to come down. Then finally the doctor pulled my water. And oh my god I was in so much pain. The nurse said” Keep pushing, the baby is almost out.” With a final push I had my baby. She was the most beautiful little baby with dark hair and big light brown eyes. I called Diana.…

Finally, when I moved to New Orleans I started volunteer work at the Children’s Hospital and helped with pop up clinics for the Latino community twice. Overall I found that helping others shouldn't be something seen as duty or mandatory, it should be spontaneous. Through others experiences and hardships we learn and grow as human beings, not only did I enjoy helping others but I felt that it helped me with my problems. Having moved around so much and meet so many people and living by myself so many years I came to truly be thankful for my blessings and specially for my hardships. Hermann Hesse once said, "I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value." Helping others made me realize that we all need help and that my way to help others would be through their health. It also taught me not to judge anybody, especially if you don't know what they have been through. I am hard believer that everything happens for a reason, and all the weekends I spend watching my parents help others helping others myself made me the determined person that I am today. Finally, the most important lesson I learned was to never give up, no matter how hard the task is or how bad the problem is there will always be someone willing to help and you can always be both sides to that, the helper or the one who needs…

March 24, 2011 was a cold, bitter day. I had sat in my chair in front of the glass, slider, door peaking out to the house across the river that had haunted me for years. I could just make out the shadow of the young man who had frightened me throughout my childhood. The house held a cold glaze and it's horrifying characteristics seemed to escape from the windows of the house. I had planned this day over and over for three years. Everyday I'd think, and I'd think, and I'd think, about every movement of my plan to execute the man that took my life. I had boated down the river about a quarter of a mile so I could come to the house through the back of the woods. Gun in hand I stepped out of the boat and began my trek through the woods.…

As I was writing my personal narrative for my composition 1 class, it easily made my mind boggle. After I had got started on my personal narrative, it was easy for me to keep writing and keep following along the story line. The main strength of mine that the essay played to was my creativity and my flexibility for different writings, because I have never written an essay as serious and sad as this one, but I did have to add my happy ending when I finished the story. I wanted it to be very attention grabbing with a twist, but I also wanted it to be very emotional.…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…

I close the front door, kick off my shoes, and throw my bag down. Rummaging through the mail after multiple bills and shopping adds we never look at, I finally got it. This is the moment I have been yearning for since I was 12 years old, my letter from NYU. This will either make all my dreams come true, or have them all explode right in front of me. I sheepishly open the letter, not wanting to rip anything. I read it out loud, “Dear Dakota, we are pleased to announce that you have been accepted into NYU.”…
