Personal Narrative: My RV Trip
Earlier one day on my RV trip, my Dad promised me he would take me tubbing, but he never did so the whole time after I was screaming at him I ran to the bathroom in the RV and took a towel and wiped my tears off my cheeks, a little while later, after I was annoying my brother, one of the families named Yael and Avi were in the RV and then they asked,
“Do you want us to take you and your brother tubbing with Erin and her friend”
“Sure!!” I said with excitement.
So when I was on the boat I was so excited because I loved tubing. When we got out of the no wake zone I literally just pushed the tub into the water and jumped on, my heart was pounding with excitement. When everyone got on we started to go I held my brother's hand tight, zooming through

The day I took off on my 4 wheeler, and left my Mom and Dad in the dust. It started out awesome and fun, then turned out to be very scary. It was July 4, 2013, my family and I loaded up our 4 wheelers for a fun day in the great outdoors. We all unloaded our 4 wheelers, then took off out into the desert. I wanted to see how fast I could go around the sharp corners on dirt roads. It was so much. I was having so much fun seeing how fast I could drive my 4 wheeler, around the sharp dirt road corners, I never looked back.…

This spring I spent two-weeks in New York visiting my daughter and her family. I spend a lot of time in the city, and I love it, not only because my daughter has chosen to create and raise a family in Brooklyn, but also because of its walkability. I’m not much of a shopper, but I do like to watch other shoppers, particularly those who dress as if they’d like to be watched.…

First off, trip to Vietnam was truly a blessing. I did not expect so much of the trip until the first day I arrived Vietnam. On my first day, I got an opportunity to meet many great people who were selfless; those who cared more about others rather than themselves. It took approximately 14hours in total to arrive at hotel. Even though the plane ride was only about 5hours, since it was a group trip, it took extra time to ensure everyone is in right place. Despite the exhaustion and drowsiness, no one complained but encouraged others. I was already touched by grace of God before we even began our mission trip. On the second day, I volunteered for the medical service. There were two activities including the medical service, and house painting…

Weather destruction hits hard some places more then others around the world. In Alpena where I live we rarely have any kind of major weather damage. On June 14, a group of 44 members from Grace Lutheran Church, as well as other churches in Alpena, drove 20 hours to Mayflower, Arkansas where a level 5 tornado had hit. I was one of these, along with my mom and one of my best friends Maddy. For six months we had prepared and fundraised. I did not want to go on this trip, but what I was going to see was much more than what I had imagined--i came back more grateful for the life I have and more aware of the problems that other people deal with.…

Back at the house that we were staying at, my grandpa and my cousin, who was mentioned earlier, Joey, were fooling around and somehow is devolved into my grandpa pantsing my cousin. While everyone was laughing and teasing Joey, his mom, my aunt Jill, was plotting her revenge. The next day, as we were going down the river, my aunt was relentlessly shooting my grandpa, but that was only the beginning of her revenge. Once we got to the end of the part where you can raft, we got out and went to the grill for lunch. This was where the revenge really happened. After we had all finished our lunch, my grandpa stood up and was looking at the river, over a table where a family was eating. My aunt snuck up behind him, and forgetting he was only wearing swimming trunks, pantsed him! The rest of the family was standing behind my aunt, so we were able to see the looks of disgust on the family my grandpa was facing’s faces. My grandpa immediately pulled up his trunks, and my aunt, realizing what had happened, immediately began apologizing to the family. Thankfully, the family had a sense of humor and was able to laugh it off (and thankfully didn’t press…

Everyone has their own community or organization for which they belong to. Within that community you tend to find who you are and what you are about. For me I found my identity in being an outdoors man. Being an outdoors man at my young age seems to be rare at this day, but that doesn’t prevent me from doing something I love and appreciate. Growing up with my family full of avid outdoors men helped influence me and only made my identity stronger.…

I've never been an "outdoors" experience kind of person. Maybe, it's because I'm very sedentary and prefer to stay inside to read and enjoy tranquility. I avoid all types of chaos and crowded places. Nevertheless, my visit to the Camuy River Cave Park (back in 2004) was refreshing and enriching in knowledge, historically, scientifically and spiritually. That experience brought the best out of me, as a human being and a nature lover, by giving the chance of experiencing a whole new level of peace and tranquility.…

The feel of 80 degree temperature, the sound of splashing water, and a super long car ride? Everything but the car ride was awesome! On my spring break this year we took a very long and boring car trip down to Arizona. It was a 18+ hour car trip just going there! I mostly slept and read the way there. First, we visited Arizona state and Arizona University. Then, we stayed at my Grandma and Grandpa’s house. But, what I mostly liked about my spring break was in Arizona there was 80-90 degree temperatures!…

On Saturday April 13, 2013 I was walking through the parking garage on the USAA campus in San Antonio, TX to start my 4 hour work shift, I began to go through the turnstile and seemingly startled awake a bat. This bat began to fly and squeal in fear. It darted at my head getting caught in my hair a couple times. I started to scream and flail my arms about trying to fend off the nocturnal flying mammal in fear. During what seemed to be forever I was able to unlock the turnstile and exit the entry way but not before rupturing two discs in my neck. This incident caused quite the turn of events in my life. I had been working for USAA for 3 years and truly loved it there. I also lived in a beautiful apartment with my mother and two children and…

This Friday my family decided to go on a two week road trip to Canada with various stopovers in between, while I’m stuck at home alone because of school. At first my parents wanted me to go with them, but I had to decline because missing two weeks’ worth of school is basically saying you want to fail the semester. I am kind of bummed that I couldn’t make it to the trip but, I’m also kind of excited to be home alone for two weeks. This is by far the longest I would be left alone and having to ration my money for the two weeks. It’s good practice for college once I transfer out and head off to a dorm or rent an apartment. So far the only thing different I’ve noticed about my solitary life compared to life with my family is that I have a lot…

I have always loved going to the lake, but this time was a little bit different, we had a boat. It wasn’t a very big boat, but it was big enough to put a smile on my face. Not only did we have a boat, but we had a tube as well. Every other year I was told I wasn’t allowed to go in the tube; but after repetitive asking to ride in it my Dad finally said yes.…

his is one of the best camping stoves I have ever seen. It's built to last a lifetime and I consider it the Cadillac of all camping stoves. It's the Brunton Wind River Range™and this two burner stove has an individual burner output of 15,000 BTUs. I like the fact that it has a windshield built in. There is nothing more difficult than cooking outdoors when the wind is blowing, but this stove can be moved so that the windshields protect the flame from strong winds, and cooking will be fast and efficient.…
