Personal Narrative: My Time In English Composition

Imagine a class where one can have fun and learn a much needed skill--that class is English Composition I. I have met my goal of becoming a better writer during this class. I did it by evaluating myself and learning from my mistakes. During my time in English Composition I, I have improved my writing through the advertisement analysis, the comparative analysis, plus the narrative, and the argumentative essays. The first essay I wrote was an advertisement analysis. I chose three aspects that helped the advertisement compel the audience to stay on the page. I then drafted a paper with a paragraph for each of the aspects. I did well when interpreting what the advertisement was trying to convey in the reader. Diligence in my editing is one way that essay helped me to grow as a writer. The next essay I wrote was a comparative analysis. The structure of that essay was two body
I learned to first introduce the setting of the story in detail before telling the story. By doing so, it helped the reader create a mental image of the story as he or she read. I learned how to write a narrative when you have conversations going. The story was supposed to be one from experience. One weakness was that I had never written a narrative. Writing that narrative, I learned a better way to communicate with readers. The essay we wrote next was the most factual. The argumentative essay was the first of its kind for me. I was new to the concept of having sources for an essay. It was to be written on a topic of my choosing. It was to be comprised of three arguments and a rebuttal. I had to do research and source this research. I was good at finding the information that I needed to back up my argument. However, I was not good at putting that information into a usable form in my essay. One way that essay has helped me grow as a writer was by introducing me to a whole new form of writing.
