some bad news for you.”
She took a deep breath and said, “Your parents died in a car accident." I felt a thud in my gut and yelled, "No they didn't!” then ran outside as quick as I could, my heart pounding. I ran straight into the schoolyard. When I heard her calling me I felt tears running down my eyes then I thought to myself, “This is not happening right now.” I pinched myself because I thought I was dreaming. I looked back sobbing and saw principle Garber standing right behind me. I felt a big knot in my throat. She picked me up, brought me to her office, gave me tissues to wipe my face, I felt much better. I asked for some water and she came back with a glass of water and ice. She said, "I was afraid this would happen so I wanted to wait until after school to tell you but since you already know I’ll just tell you now that your grandma is on her way here to take care of you, she’ll be here at 11pm tonight so we’ll head down to the airport then. So how about you just go to finish your last period class then after school we go and get something to eat, sounds like a plan.” I nodded my head. Last period went by quick mostly because all I was thinking about was my parents. I shed a tear or two but I covered it up quickly so nobody could see. When class was over I rushed to the principal’s office, when I opened the door she was right there ready to leave.
The car ride from the school to Olive Garden was like about 15 minutes.
The ride was quiet since we had nothing really to talk about. To break the silence she asked me if I was doing well in school, I said yes, straight A’s. Inside of Olive Garden was a bit noisy, babies crying, people talking, waiters busy. We took a seat since nobody would seat us. All I could smell was delicious garlic herb breadsticks, and tomato sauce. A waiter came I ordered spaghetti and meatballs Ms. Garber ordered something fancy but I don’t even know the name of it. The food came quickly, when I started eating the spaghetti I remembered when dad would always twirled his spaghetti into his fork all each time he gets it. I shed a tear, then two, then three, they started coming rapidly like a waterfall from my eyes, I didn’t know what to do. Luckily Ms. Garber calmed me down before anyone could see, I didn’t know what I would do without her. I was calm, finished eating my pasta then we
left.
The ride from Olive Garden to the airport was a 1 hour drive, so I got comfortable to take a nap. I fell into a deep food coma. I woke up, everything was bright, was I in heaven I asked myself. “No sleepyhead,” said a voice in the distance. It was Ms. Garber smiling at me. “We are entering the airport silly.” We saw a lot of people at the arriving gate, it was hard to find her since I haven’t seen her in like 4 years. “Timmy look your grandmother!” Ms. Garber said excitingly. I ran out of the car straight to hug her, I couldn’t hold it in, I busted out into tears and she did to. “I haven’t seen you in years!” cried grandma. “You’re getting so big” I was speechless. “Are you ready for the long flight,”
“What?”
“The flight we are going to take from here to California to live silly, your aunts, uncles and cousins are excited to see you,”
“Ms. Garber didn’t tell me anything about that,”
