Personal Narrative: My Trip To Tennessee
I was so excited, I had never been to Tennessee before. It was my first time being more than three hours away from home. The drive is usually three hours, but we stopped at a relative’s house on the way there, which added three hours to the drive. Therefore, the drive ended up being six hours. We were going to Tennessee for my sister's softball tournament. We had just arrived at our really nice hotel. I could not wait to go inside and see what is was like. In my eyes, the hotel looked like a castle, also viewing this from the eyes of a six year old.

We had just got checked in, but we did not have time to go to our room yet. We just dropped our bags off in front the lobby. We had to go to the ballpark because my sister had a game. It was so hot outside. Of course, I met some little kids that I played with all day instead of watching the game. We had our own game of kickball going on. I had to tell them goodbye at the end of the game because they were from Missouri. One of the girls, Sarah, said “I hope to see you all again!” After my sister Rachel’s team won, we went out to eat with the team and the family we were staying with. It was around 4:00 and it was still sunny out. After we had got done eating we were going to head back to the hotel to take our luggage up to our room

It was now about 10:00, so everyone had started laying down. Gatlinburg, Tennessee was still the best vacation ever!

The lesson I learned after this is to never be impatient and always wait for my mom to tell me if it’s okay to do something. Once she figured out that I was okay, she said that she didn’t want me to go out there in the first place. If I would have waited for her to get to the room and asked her if it was okay to go out there instead of just running, then none of this would have

Did you know I recently moved from Tennessee to Nebraska? When I moved to Nebraska, everyone told me how flat Nebraska was, how it was full of fields. In my mind I was reminded of Tennessee with its family owned farms that could stretch for several acres. I realized that though Tennessee and Nebraska are hundreds of miles away they are very similar.…

One day in a place far away from south Michigan, a kid named Evan was running in a long race. It was an estimated 26 miles. It was his first race that he has ever participated in. *Change isto the world as aging is to humans, inevitable. As I look out of my window, I see all of the changes I could reverse, such as the loss of my favorite tree and the missing yard space where a pool now stands. As I look out of my window I could completely change the setting and move to my favorite place, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Although I could reverse all of these changes and ameliorate my life, these changes have made me who I am today, and they have given me my memories. Therefore, I would not reverse any of these changes.…

Asking me to pick only one problem with Anderson Indiana is like asking an artist to pick only one problem with a painting he’s painted. Anderson exactly have a clean or dignified town. It’s actually quite dirty, dull and boring. There’s dogfighting cops, a prominent meth and heroin problem, and i know about 4 kids shot and killed just this year, the list goes on. Personally I don’t walk anywhere here because It’s so risky. Aside from all the downs our town is relatively aesthetically pleasing, we have quite a bit of wildlife although we’re so hectic. But the potholes, discarded trash and needles, and the amount of abandoned houses take it down a few levels.…

Yesterday me and my Dad went on an 11ish mile hike on the Appalachian Trail. This hike was probably one of the coolest hikes I've been on. It went from one beautiful landscape to another. As I was laying in bed that night with my muscles aching from the extra 1.5 miles we didn't plan on, I realized I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my Dad. He introduced me to my love of the outdoors and my passion to hike the entire AT. I hope one day ,Dad, we can stand on Mount Katahdin together and look back at the 2190 miles behind…

A day in Memphis is not complete without the diversity in our community. As a second generation Memphian who has primarily lived in Midtown, I had the privilege of watching several different cultures in one place and especially now that I attended one of the largest public schools. Daily, I experience someone else’s world. The people I get to meet and see are from various backgrounds: race, religion, ethnicity, etc. that I may never comprehend, which is wonderful. In Memphis, it is normal to be an enigma, to have idiosyncrasies. I believe that is the heart of Memphis. What makes this heart surpass discrimination is the acceptance that follows years of diversity. My neighborhood has single mothers whose children play with the neighborhood adolescents.…

As Americans we have civil liberties. Civil liberties are basic rights and freedoms that are guaranteed to American citizens (Thompson). For example, as Americans one of our civil liberties is to keep and bear arms. In our society, this civil liberty has become an issue due to several incidents involving firearms. Therefore, a bill has been constructed threatening our right to bear arms. I feel that as Americans we have many reasons that we should have this civil liberty is because the right to bear arms involved in the second and fourth amendments. The second amendment clearly states “a well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right if the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. If our government can take away our rights like it’s nothing, then what else can they take from us? We have many rights as Americans. The right to bear arms is one of the biggest. Some of the reasons why we shouldn’t have guns banned are second and fourth amendments, hunting, they will not end deaths, and how there are many other reasons of death that we should be worried about. Although these are just among the few that I have mentioned there are plenty more reasons why Americans should be able to have guns in our nation.…

On Saturday April 13, 2013 I was walking through the parking garage on the USAA campus in San Antonio, TX to start my 4 hour work shift, I began to go through the turnstile and seemingly startled awake a bat. This bat began to fly and squeal in fear. It darted at my head getting caught in my hair a couple times. I started to scream and flail my arms about trying to fend off the nocturnal flying mammal in fear. During what seemed to be forever I was able to unlock the turnstile and exit the entry way but not before rupturing two discs in my neck. This incident caused quite the turn of events in my life. I had been working for USAA for 3 years and truly loved it there. I also lived in a beautiful apartment with my mother and two children and…

Before we were going to go inside I noticed all these other restaurants I’ve never even heard of like an Inn & Out and Jack in The Box Johnny Rocket. They all looked amazing my mouth was getting watery I wanted to go try them all. As we walked inside the restaurant you could hear the bells and the water fountains, they had full of koi fish it was amazing. Then after we finished eating we went to the mall it was astonishing it had four floors way more than Sioux City’s mall. There were so many stores that I’ve always wanted to shop at. After we were done the shopping we were heading to the beach I have never been to the beach before. It was so nice seeing the waves and seagulls fly around as I was standing I could feel the sand in my toes standing there with my feet in the cold water. It felt so relaxing it made me want to visit more places than…
