Personal Narrative: My Volleyball Team
My volleyball team is the Saint Susanna Spartans. There are eight people on this team, myself included, and we are on the A team. The other girls on the team are: Adison, Audra, Emma, Grace, Isabel, Lydia, and Madison. Everyone on the team is kind and smart. They are wonderful people. We have two setters, Madison, and myself. We also have middle hitters and outside hitters. Emma and Grace are middle hitters. Lydia and Adison are outside hitters. Isabel and Audra are general passers. We all have our own position and are important for the team in order to win. Everyone does good things for the team. Lydia, Madison, and Adison are our best servers. Audra and Isabel are the best at getting the ball in the right spot for the setter. Emma, Lydia, and Grace are our best hitters, and Madison is our best setter. I like many different things about everybody. Like how they play, and their personalities towards the team. Adison is the funny one and she is really good at giving advice. That helps the team a lot. Emma and Isabel are both smart and know what they are talking about. Lydia, Madison, and Grace are all good at being great friends …show more content…

We are all goofy and mess around. That is not the best for our team, but it reminds us that we are doing this not only to be good, but to have fun with friends. Sometimes, we get carried away on what we were talking about either before practice, or what had happened that day at school. Also, it is hard sometimes to be very positive when the same people keep messing up all of the time. However, we have to remember that we are all trying to get better and be the best that we can. Positivity is really the key to a team in order for them to bond, and play well together. Every once in while, but not very often, some people get down and negative about the team. Again, we have to remember to stay positive no matter what

Fastpitch is more than a team, it is a family. In or out of the field, everyone knows how to connect with one another. Despite that the fastpitch lost many seniors last year, the underclassmen have stepped it up to fill in those spots.Freshman Megan Bellusci says “ a little bit nerve racking, but it is a lot of fun, and I can look up to anyone to help me out if I have questions.” Everyone is super supportive with one another, even if they lose or win. Sophomore Lauren Rassmessen says “ we build each other up, work together very well, we are all good friends, and even before a game we keep each other pumped up.” The Fastpitch team has created an amazing bond with one another. They have two enthusastic co captains, Shelby Starkovich, and Emily…

Members often set goals for not only themselves but as whole. They hold each other accountable for actions and push each other to become better, they depend on one another. Everyone has a role on her team and they work well together. They might face challenges but they know they can work together to overcome them. The Ithaca Women’s indoor track and field team has positive group dynamics. The one area of intervention I would choose be to try and get the team to mix and become more familiar with people of other events. Have outings or different forms of team bonding of the entire team. Maybe even break the team up into groups not based on their event have them complete a task and get to know one…

Growing up, I was never naturally athletic and very injury prone. Regardless of these issues, I always remained determined and strived to accomplish my goals. As I enter high school one of my main goals was to make the varsity tennis team. During my freshmen year I practiced every day for the first 3 months of school hoping that I could just make the team. Unfortunately I tore a ligament in my wrist for the second time which prevented me from practicing till right before the tennis season started. I ended barely making the JV team which was very disappointing, but it only motivated me for next year. In my heart I knew that I if I was determined enough I could play varsity next year on my own merit. As I progressed through the sophomore year,…

I couldn't be more excited to finally play on a girls golf team starting this next Monday! After having three concussions ending my soccer career, my dad came to me and suggested I join the golf team. As a freshman, I joined the boys team at Slinger High School. Most of the guys accepted the idea of a girl playing with them. Many helped me out and treated me like any other teammate, which definitely calmed my nerves for the first few weeks. I competed in almost all the matches. The first few matches were very scary because I got many strange looks from other teams. My teammates were always there for me though. I became so comfortable and by the end of the season I made many friends and accomplished a lot as an individual. I found myself in…

We wanted to keep the team fun, enjoyable also competitive. After all of the practice we have done, I told my teammates that this is our year to rise above obscurity. We wanted to make history when we graduate from our school and that’s why we worked hard to win. When I became a junior, I also became the captain for that sport as well, when the season started we won a few meets and then we went to district meets. We won district in an awesome way, all of us were in a row from first until fourth. The whole other teams were shocked however we was not because we believed we could win it. When Track started we won a couple of meets as well, we dominating the sport. It was when we won many meets we were becoming famous in our school and other places as well.…

One extremely important activity outside of the classroom that has helped me grow as an individual is Church League basketball at my local YMCA. From the outside looking in this league seems to be a form of glorified pick-up basketball with referees and a scoreboard but there is so much more to it. Almost half way through my junior year my father convinced me to try out for the varsity basketball team at school in November to which I hesitated at first but later gave in and tried out only to be cut. At first I was upset because I had never been cut from a team and I was unsure of how to handle it and what to do with my free time. This prompted me to reach out to God and ask him for a sense of direction and purpose in this time of my life to which He responded with a friend inviting me to Church League basketball. Once I experienced a few scrimmages and practices I decided to commit to playing Church League and coming to all of the…

The vibration of the basketball hitting the ground is the best feeling the world. Light was shining through the humongous windows onto the worn out gym floor like a flash light. I was able to show these things and show I could contribute as part of the lineup which is how I was accepted to the team. We all had the same goals to become better tennis players, represent our school in a good light, support each other, and win. Being led by our coaches we could all push each other every day, whether it be in the weight room spotting each other or on the court playing against each other. Every grueling day, no matter if it was outrageously windy or forty degrees we practiced and gave it our all. The real test came when it was time to play against other schools, especially the ones in our district.…

Diving on the ground to get the ball up, setting the ball outside, and having your hitter slam the ball into the opponents side of the court. That is what volleyball is all about and why I have such a love for the game. I am here to tell you about why this sport is so important to me and also why it plays a very big role in my life. For me when I play it’s about being a team, going out there and showing yourself and the crowd that you know what you’re doing. In the time you are on that court you leave everything behind you and focus on one thing: playing your game no matter the outcome and leaving everything on the floor.…
