Tryouts consisted of drills to establish our skill set and potential level category. In this setting it was more difficult than school tryouts and exponentially more intense. Once we were done the coaches gathered everyone up and grabbed their clipboards to make the final decision. The coaches stood towards the front and started calling out the number on the players’ shirts for who made it. I was shaking for my number was twenty-nine. The coaches continued calling the numbers, twenty-two, twenty-four, twenty-seven... twenty-nine! I was so relieved and excited that I was chosen. It was my first time ever being a part of a club sport, and I could not have been more thrilled. After one of the coaches finished announcing all the numbers I ran over and told my parents I had made it! They were so overjoyed and could not have been more proud of me. From that day on I have realized that failure does not define one, but merely shows one to not give up and try again. I am grateful to have experienced a failure that had helped me grow and challenging this belief changed my life for the better. Also, if I had not decided to go along with my choice to continue volleyball I would have missed out on all the relationships I made with my friends and accomplishments I had throughout the years of my volleyball
