When I’m running, I feel as if the world is revolving around me. I love the feeling of the cold, crisp air entering my lungs. The surprisingly smooth air fills my lungs and creates a dry environment for my mouth. I open my mouth for some air, but receive too much. It travels all the way down to my stomach and causes my stomach to tighten. I can feel a cramp coming up to my abdomen. Nonetheless, I keep running because there is nothing that can compare to the amazing feeling of overcoming that heavy knot in my stomach.
When I was little, I enjoyed playing most sports including football, soccer, and basketball. I enjoyed playing these sports, especially running past others and scoring points. As I got older, my mom brought me on runs …show more content…
When I run in races, I can hear the heavy breathing of others. Most people run in groups pushing each other until the end, like a pack of wolves not stopping until they have chased down their prey. When I’m next to a pack of other runners, the air around me feels very humid and it makes it feel like I’m trapped in a burning car. The cool air dissipates, and a damp and dense environment caused by others’ sweat takes its place. Once I am able to pass a group of runners, I can once again breath in the fresh air. It feels great after a long time in the middle of a huge pack of people. I keep my head up and take in the enormous oak trees encompassing the path that I’m running on. The oak trees wave their long and wrinkly arms as I run by. Sometimes when I run, the scent of the fresh cut grass gets in my lungs. Although it clogs up my lungs, it allows me to push myself harder.
Most of my races are a mental battle with myself. When I’m nearing the finish, my legs are about to collapse and I can hardly get in any air. If I push myself any harder, I would throw up before the finish line. Despite that, I know that if I just survive the last few seconds, It’ll pay off in the end when I will be sure that I’ve tried my hardest and have set a new Personal Record. Running is not only good for your health but also a way to relax and enjoy the peaceful landscape around
