119th. I made contact with Dale and he reported the following: Dale was mowing his property at 705 E. 119th and observed a pickup and a car driving south of Meridian at "a high rate of speed". He said the car was following the truck at a distance of three car lengths when the truck tried to slow down and turn eastbound causing the truck to lose control and drive through the ditch located on the southeast side of the intersection. The truck continued through the ditch, drove through his chain link fence, and stopped on his property. Dale agreed to write a witness statement and returned it back to me when he finished.…

Facts: In this case, the Pasco County Sheriff’s office received an anonymous tip that marijuana was being grown on the respondent’s property. When the investigating officer discovered that he was not able to see the contents of the green house by the road. All he was able to see was a wire fence surrounding the mobile home and the greenhouse with a “DO NOT ENTER” sign posted on the property. He then circled twice over the respondent’s property in a helicopter at the height of 400 feet. With his naked eye, he was able to see through the openings in the roof, since there had been two missing panels, and identify what he thought was marijuana growing in the structure. A warrant was later obtained based on these observations, continuing the search revealed marijuana growing in the greenhouse. Which lead, the respondent, Michael A. Riley, to be charged with possession of marijuana under the Florida law.…

The narrative, The Driver’s Seat struck home for me because I just received my driver’s license this past May, 2015. I took time for me to actually drive and to become comfortable behind the wheel of a car. This piece of writing spoke to me and allowed me to review some of the identical thinking points that I went through while getting to the point of taking control of my dad’s car. The story effectively walked me through the trials of spirit and mental anguish that preceded me in taking hold of the vehicle with my dad as the co-pilot giving directions. This was the exact thing the driving instructor in The Driver’s Seat‘ taught the author. The routine of how to maneuver and throw caution to the wind- taking risks- to get the author over…

It was a nice, sunny day. Windows down and the stereo up. Going down the highway at about 75 in the middle of the day! All was well until she looked into her rearview mirror; the blue lights were high on her trail. She pulled over, the officers came to her window, is there a problem sir? Ma’am you were speeding he says. Oh I didn’t realize I was the woman said. The officer asked her for her license and she replied, I would give it to you but I don’t have it. Why don’t you have it, he asked? Well, she says, I lost it 4 times for drunk driving. He then wanted to see her registration but she didn’t have that either. She says, ya see officer I stole this car and I killed and hacked up the owner. His body parts are in a plastic bag in the trunk…

It is illegal to drive on the wrong side of the road. Everyone that drives and anyone with common sense knows that. Martinez was due in court on September 29th for being charged with possession of ecstasy, as the article states. This wouldn’t be the first time he was placed before a judge. The article clearly gives a few of the charges on Martinez’s record such as battery, drug possession, and grand theft. This man had drugs in his possession and a record to go along with his name. That makes me wonder how exactly he got onto the expressway and if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Had he survived, I feel as though he would be charged with driving under the influence and, if his recklessness had resulted in any fatalities, vehicular manslaughter.…

It was a perfectly normal Saturday night, until I sat on the couch. I expected to enjoy a funny movie with my dad, but instead I got a trip to the hospital. I sat on the couch, and then I felt a sting in my elbow. At first, it felt like I got a shot at the doctor, but it slowly got worse, and felt more like a knife slicing into my elbow. I winced and sprung up from the couch. I squinted and my eyes scanned the spot where I just sat down. Aha, I thought. There was a small piece of plastic, and it looked like it broke off from a container.…
