Personal Narrative: Slam Dunk With The NBA
I accomplished finishing my magazine. I didn’t do as well as I wish because I didn’t get as many buys and sells and I ran out of money at a time so I was hard to buy article.

There were a few problems on the way because not everyone needs to buy my articles and I ran out of money at one point. I wanted more buys and sells but that didn’t happen. The magazine was harder than I thought because of all my problems.

I think it turned out the way I wanted it too. I think I could have done better than I did. I reached my goal of finishing my magazine, but not getting so many buys and sells.

Thank you for reading my magazine. I hope you enjoyed reading Slam Dunk with the NBA.

Life is comprised of a series of learning profound learning experiences. On that stands out occurred last year in seventh grade. Two friends and I decided we wanted to try something new, to learn how to play basketball! We made that decision mainly because we wanted to do an activity together for the winter term, and seventh graders didn't have the option of doing the winter school play. We were very hesitant; only one of us had any experience playing basketball, and we didn't think it would be very fun to run up and down a court trying to get a ball in a hoop. Still we kept an open mind and began to learn how to play.…

It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. It’s Jackie, and she sounds upset.” As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice and quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.…

He rises up with his lanky frame, catches the brownish-orange sphere, then slams it through the basket with enough ferocity to bring down a small house. I felt as if he’d done it just to spite me as I sat on my couch, chips in hand. I couldn’t believe Kevin Durant had worn down the best player in the world, Lebron James, on the NBA’s biggest stage. Then I heard six dreadful words in my ear: “Who’s in your top five again?” This was a time my logical, objective outlook was really put to the test. I was forced to put aside my personal grievances with KD and, after seeing his dominant performance in the finals, put him in my top five players in the NBA.…

Lizzie always gets those layups and fouls, likewise she drives in for a layup just like any other situation. Next thing you know, I find Lizzie's head pinned to the ground, and blood just starts rolling out from her knee. In the meantime, Lexi and I go lie on the ground with Lizzie. I was so close to her, I could hear her heartbeat inside going 100mph while she took deep breaths from her lungs waiting for coach to come over and see if she was alright.…

To express his believe about stretching one’s limit, the great Guy Finley had once stated, “The limit of your present understanding is not the limit of your possibilities.” Inspired by his quote, I, Giang Pham, believe that I would be a valuable member of McGarvin’s Academic Pentathlon team. Based on my personal knowledge of Pentathlon, I have first-handedly experience the soul of a Pentathlete through various study sessions at Ethan Allen. Because of this, I have developed a deep insight of the components necessary to be a true Pentathlete. In addition to having first-hand experience, I also have extremely high expectations for both myself and other students, for it is essential in my academic growth. With this, one like myself could ultimately…

I joined MYB in 5th grade. I wanted more of a competition league after coming from Upward basketball. The first year my team was horrible and everyone went their separate ways after the season. I joined Dave Buffenbarger’s team the following year hoping for a better outcome. A lot of the girls on that team were some of my close friends, and some were not. This was not a problem as we quickly became close. MYB gave me the chance to make new friends through their league and become even closer with my old friends. With a few players always coming and going after each season, I ended up playing for Dave up until my senior year. Being on Dave’s team for so long gave me the chance to grow close to my teammates. Being with my team for many years and…

I was sitting in my freshman geometry class, talking to some friends about injuries. We were talking about how none of us have ever gotten injured in our entire life. I had been playing sports since I was in the sixth grade, and nothing ever happened. In my life I had never broken a bone. I had never even sprained an ankle. I had never worn any kind of brace, taped an ankle, or talked to a trainer about any muscle issue or pain issue. When kids would lay on the court, I always thought they were fine or looking for a little attention. My thought was that they needed to rush off the court because they were dripping sweat all over the hardwood floor, and they were taking too much time up. I used to assume they were killing our momentum when they would fall down and cry because some schools…

I miss the smell of the gym right before a basketball game and the feel of the basketball grooves. I actually kind of miss the bad tasting water from the school water fountain. One thing that I miss the most about basketball is the feeling of trying your hardest and succeeding at it.…
