fully understand the concept of a lesson or assignment. Personally, a subject that I’ve had difficulty throughout my school years has definitely been English.
Whenever I'd be in class I would feel so lost because it’d take me a while to grasp exactly what was going on while the other students were ahead. This has affected my academic achievement in high school because it has challenged me to put in my efforts to achieve my goal, which has been to be accepted into the college I desire. Considering that it is required for students to pass four years of English, my path to succeeding that has been rough, but I’ve managed to work through it and give it my all. The language barrier has allowed me to think differently in the sense of being able to think in one language and say it in another. Unfortunately, that’s where my problem has been. Since I am bilingual, some times whenever I want to express or explain something it’s really hard for me to figure out how to put my thoughts into words and make it clear enough to where people understand me. Now referring back to my troubles in English class, I think that because it’s been tough for me to explain myself, it has played a part in the lack of strength in my writing. However, overtime I believe that because this has been such a challenging issue for me it has also been my motivation to keep on going even though it may seem too difficult at first. Reflecting upon myself, I can certainly say that I’ve improved my English comprehension and speech skills compared to my past
years.
