Personal Narrative: The Lottery In Our Community
Our community is known for its love for fun and entertainment. Every year, we usually host a festival in honor of our patron saint, and this weekend is full of song, dance and of course food. On top of this tradition, you can also see our commitment to entertainment and fun by simply checking out the regular activities of most individuals in the community. Everyone loves to hav fun, like social dances and even playing social bingo every weekend. Lottery is also a favorite past-time in our community- it’s the closest thing we can get to casino gaming since the nearest casino is more than 500 miles away. Every week, we always make it a point to place our bet. My family is a regular better, and I make it a point to get a ticket after leaving work. It has been my …show more content…

All of a sudden, someone from our community won. It was $500,000- not the multi-million jajckpot, but it was good enough to electrify the community. We talked among ourselves, and asked ho could be the lucky winner. The nes got all of us excited, and I decided to continue my betting. After a few days, we were surprised to hear another news that another resident got a substantial winnings from the lottery! Again, it was a guessing game for all of us.
I was talking to the lady behind the counter of the supermarket, and she mentioned that someone had won the lottery, and the ticket was purchased from their outlet. At that moment, it did not register on my mind that the winning ticket could be mine. I was one of those residents who were excited and happy for the good fortune given to the community. Then all of a sudden, she mentioned that I was the one who got the winning ticket! I was surprised by her revelation, and for a moment, I was lost for words.
I immediately rushed home, checked and verified the numbers. I also called by fiancee, and she was overwhelmed and happy as well to know that I was the winner. Thanks to my combination of numbers, I am now $500,000

Is it sad that when it comes to writing a story all about me. Just one story, nothing comes to mind. This is what happens when you dedicate all your life to go to school and try to be the best you can be. Since I was a little girl all I ever did was think about going to school, getting good grades, and just making sure to be able to make your teachers happy. Especially your parents because if you did otherwise you would end up with a beating. When I got good grades it was mostly just so I would not get grounded. I always lived in a nutshell, I do not even remember if I had any friends. It is such a sad thing to me just to sit here and write. Every one else writes about how they went on a fishing trip or some intresting story. What is my story?…

I was sitting backstage waiting to be called back up for crowning to get it over with and get out of the very uncomfortable dress. Finally they called the contestants back on stage. I stood at the very end of the contestant line. The first award the announced was Miss Congeniality, the announcer spoke into the microphone and stated Morgan Nobbe as the winner of the award. They placed a sash on my shoulder and continued on with the award ceremony. Next was second runner up and first runner up and like in sports I applauded for the winners. Finally it was down to the big award, the one that everyone had wanted. I stood there thinking I got Miss Congeniality and one of the older girls would win but was happy I was not going home empty handed and I had something to show that I stepped out of my comfort zone. The announcer began to announce the winner of the pageant and I was ready to clap but then the unthinkable happened, the announcer said my name. I am pretty sure that I went into shock when Miss Tree City 2013 was placing the crown on my head. Who would have thought that a short farm girl would win a…

I was really surprised when we came home with a second dog one day. I thought that we were just going to Target and PetSmart and then right back home. As we drove into the back of the parking lot, I wondered what was going on. Another car slowly pulled up beside us. There were several kids in the back. The lady in the front got out and opened the back door. There was a lot of time of just her and the kids trying to grab whatever was back there. Finally, she pulled out a small dog. That’s when I realized that we were getting another dog, and also figured out the reason we brought our other dog.I was surprised that we finally got the second dog we had been wanting. I was overjoyed to see the small thing. We eventually, after a long day of shopping…

Imagine a state fair packed with people and every second you get sacked, the fairs like a football game and you’re on offense and you keep trying to dodge the defensive end. The fair is really expensive, the rides are five dollars apiece, when I went on the tilt a whirl the person that operated the ride got on without being in a seat so right before the ride ended he ran into me but for some reason I was laughing hysterically. The guy must have gotten hurt because when I went back I looked over at the ride and then I saw a new guy operating the ride. After that I went on a ride that looked like a spider and that ride went really fast as fast as a rabbit running away from a hunter, I was on the ride for seven minutes it just kept going up and…

We have collected the true, terribly sad stories of lotto winners that show that winning the lottery, despite the seeming wonderfulness of having some $ 500 600-million more dollars (before taxes) to your name, is not all it's cracked up to be. In fact, what seems like an American dream may actually be something of an American nightmare. Interestingly, the psychology that draws us to lotteries is the low-risk factor: While you might win big, your life goes on virtually unchanged if you don't, so there's not a ton to lose. What you might have to lose, at least according to historical precedent, often comes after you win. At least for these people, to whom the following occurred:…
