Personal Narrative: The Secret Life Of Bees
This semester in English II I learned a variety of different topics; ranging from learning how to write a children's book about promoting proper behavior, to how to script a movie about a hero’s journey, to how to formally debate the topic trickey from both perspectives. Although on two of these three topics I had already held knowledge to, I added onto my experiences and understandings of them. As one of the assignments from the book “The Secret Life Of Bees” was to write and illustrate a children’s book about or using bees. In the past when I was a kid, I had written stories for fun, and since I was young my stories were very juvenile; therefore classifying them as children's book (or at least I would call them that). When I wrote my children’s book about bees, I choose to write from an influential perspective. I wanted to make it a positive message, rather than just a fun plot with no real reasoning. I created a superhero bee whose name was Buzz. He put off a positive message to be nice to other bees, and by bees I metaphorically meant other people. Since I didn’t understand how to use the comic strip program I decided I’d ask if I could a mini movie/trailer, since I knew how to do that one. I wrote a plot line using celebrities as my actors, so I could find clips easier, then pieced the clips together and added text plot. When I was making the video I didn’t have the script planned out, I found the videos then mended the text with so it would make sense. I’ve made “mini movies” that are 30 seconds, but this one was my longest one, and probably the one with the best plot line.
