Personal Narrative: The Year 2016
It seems like around the year 2010, was the last time I remember our country being the place us millennials had come to know, understand, and love as the land of the free. The place that banded together when such tragedies like 9/11 had struck our country and our people without notice. It seemed like one of the only countries where racist, misogynistic, and homophobic rhetoric was just not spewed. And if it ever was, that person would be condemned for spewing it. But as I said, that feeling was felt around the year 2010. Six long years have gone by since then, and I definitely think it is safe to say that that feeling I spoke of before is long gone from many Americans today as 2016 is wrapping up.
