Personal Narrative-Therapeutic Internship
First of all, I think I can work under pressure. I am getting used to see a maximum of 10 patients a day, delivers different manipulative technique to different kinds of patients and having a lot of discussion with the great clinician and my colleagues. 6 to 7 months internship gave me a lot of knowledges and an experiences whereby in the real life, I need to apply all the experiences to the job settings.
I think I am good enough to create connections where I can get more patient or in other words here mean referral patient to come to the clinic. Having a good interaction with the patient and their families were good things because I can get more patient referral.
Since I learned business and practice management module during class, maybe

What I meant here is, it is preferable to use closed-ended question since the patients only need to answer yes or no. The patients that come to the clinic might not really understand or even don’t know how to explain it in the simplest way. For example, if I am dealing with a kid patient, so it beneficial to use the simplest way to gain more information regarding his or her pain.
I can't expect what kind of problems the patients have. So I need to be more prepared in providing care outside the scope of practice. So 6 to 7 months of the internship was a small portion of the chiropractic practitioner life, where I gain experienced only the pieces of the skill. 7 months internship trained me to improve my performance by using repetitive of psychomotor skill, assessment of skills and feedback. So, all the advice from the clinician and my colleagues will help me to be a more positive person.
In the job settings, where all the emotion and the knowledge will be tested. Long hours to deal with works, deal with the different kind of people, different conditions and the new environment. So a constant self-reflective process involving feedback from success or lack of success with history, exam, diagnosis, adjusting skills and patient management to transform their perspective from student intern to real doctor. So, I hope that I will be more confident to treat the patient with a serious condition in the future

One of the deep cleaning I observed was a patient with infection. I was extremely surprised to see the patient bleed during the cleaning. I think that visiting the dentist on a regular basis is very important because he or she keep their teeth clean and healthy. I could realize many patients discovered about their teeth’s condition through cleaning. I was able to see Dr. Sim perform many root canals, crowning teeth, and filling cavities during three days. Through shadowing I learned that being a dentist and dental hygienist are a very important position with lots of responsibility to their patients. It was time to learn again how important trusts between the doctor and patients. I believe that when patients develop this trust, they are more likely to comply with doctors’ recommendations and therefore get better care. This shadowing helped me realize the importance of good relationships between employer and employees. I can see they always had each other to rely on for help. I was impressed by the excitement and enthusiasm they had for their jobs, and for the company as a whole. I have not decided where to work after graduation. If I work, I felt inclined to work in such a pleasant work…

At Haven, I exchanged ideas with each of my patients on how they and their families can live healthier lives as I learned about their diverse lives and tried to make sense of it for them and others. Life can be a treacherous journey that even the toughest people have trouble making it through. No one, not even the greatest superheros can get through it alone. We all need some sort of mentor. Someone like Mr. Miyagi was to Karate Kid and Athena was to Odysseus. I am no different, a mentor’s job is to lead and guide you through whatever life throws your way. My mentor has done that and much more. Normally it seems most mentors either come from different ethnicities or cultural backgrounds but, not in this case. Me and my mentor share a ton of the same characteristics and traits. Although he is older and much more wiser, we are still close enough in age to experience and enjoy some of the same cultural activities. One of them being checking…

As the internship period was restricted to several criteria, such as lasting a 10-week period, and being relevant to one of the three functional areas, the search was narrowed down considerably. Furthermore, as I had several appointments with my physician, I was hesitant to look for an internship abroad. Because there was some time pressure in looking for an internship before the deadline I dropped several preconceived criteria (such as only large, international companies) and looked for all possible…

As a high school student I did not know what to expect of my internship. My friends had planned on interning at banks and hospitals. This had made me speculate on whether I made a right decision or not. Finally, the day for my internship arrived. On entering through the gates with some alien faces staring blankly at me from the balcony, I could feel the anxiety increasing. I tried to disguise my nervousness through short and firm introduction. I was asked to present my knowledge on the disease. As the course already integrated in my biology syllabus I confidently presented what I had studied about the topic. Then my supervisor proposed either to just work with the statistics or to do a field research. Although not much of an extrovert, choosing the latter I wanted to approach new opportunities of reaching out to people.…
