Brazil’s main language is portuguese, and it is not similar to english. Onthe other hand, instead of looking at it as a bad thing I embraced my opportunity tolearn something that would benefit me for my entire life. Learning a new languagehas several benefits, some of them being able to help international students andnavigate not only the United States, but also the world.On the other hand, this is no easy task. For the first three months I struggledwith the new language, new culture, new everything. Speaking english twenty fourhours a day can be very difficult for someone who has never done it. Mathstrategies are not the same and sometimes teachers speak too fast, or I do not knowthe meaning of some words and I have to search in the dictionary. Whereas after,with the help of my teachers, guidance counselors, friends and family, I was able tostrive and succeed not only in academics but also in athletics.As mentioned above, my journey to this country had many ups and downs.But, no matter what, I never gave up on my dream and I still continue to face dailystruggles that try to take me off my game. All the accomplishments and disputeshave made myself a better, more mature person. That is what challenges
