Personal Narrative: Traveling To The Jurassic Period
If I could travel back in time, I would go to the Jurassic period. One reason I would like to go there is to see the different dinosaur species. I would be able to see undiscovered species, and the way everything interacted with each other. Another reason is I would be able to explore how the world was back then. For example, I would be able to see what kind of creature lived in the ocean, what I would need to survive, and where I would live. Traveling to the Jurassic period would provide great insight to how the world was back then, and how everything

Most of my young adult life I have walked into a room where everyone was listening to a person describing a story, in Spanish, and I could not understand the details? Being a non-fluent Latinas, this meant I would not hear and understand the juicy gossip. However, with not speaking Spanish I have gone thought many challenges in my life. My significant event is about my sixth grade trip to the Woodlands. It was right before the school day started, and the sky was blue and clear. After everyone was accounted for, it was a brief bus ride up the road to the Woodlands. Although I was nervous about going, that all went away because it was a beautiful day to bask in the woods, and socialize. The first day we were there, we were initiated, and we had to create woodsey nicknames for ourselves. We all hung out together outside the Mess Hall and enjoyed the sun.…

Everyone has their own community or organization for which they belong to. Within that community you tend to find who you are and what you are about. For me I found my identity in being an outdoors man. Being an outdoors man at my young age seems to be rare at this day, but that doesn’t prevent me from doing something I love and appreciate. Growing up with my family full of avid outdoors men helped influence me and only made my identity stronger.…

I have a deep interest in the ocean and marine life, which was fostered when my family and I moved to the Pacific Coast. This interest grew further after I went on a backstage tour to the aquarium at the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Due to this continuous exposure to the ocean and the creatures that live there, I am focusing my education around my interest in marine life. It's for this reason that I’m majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry. With this education, my goal is to become an Aquarist, and build my way up to becoming an ocean or aquarium diver. As a diver, I want to have the opportunity to study coral reefs, and create and implement conservation plans. In addition, I want to study sea turtles and ways to conserve their declining…

My mother had found a zoo online that was located in our city and decided that it would be fun to check it out. I had my doubts since I had always trusted well-known zoos such as the San Diego Zoo, but in the end I too decided it would be worth looking into. It was Saturday noon, when my mom, dad, and I left for the zoo. When we were halfway there we came upon a bumpy road scattered with rocks. My father told us that it was used in winter to keep the cars from slipping on the icy road. But I could only think of one thing at that moment, the immense headache which the constant bumping on the road brought me. I complained that we should’ve gone to the Humane Society. It was right near the house and there wasn’t a bumpy road we had to cross when…

The experience that came from the multiple field trips we went on was extremely beneficial and a great life experience. Within all three field trips, we surveyed freshwater and saltwater fish and identified their species. We had two trips to the Mead Gardens and one trip to the Florida Keys. To survey the fish, we used multiple fish catching techniques. In the Mead Gardens, to catch fishes, we used two separate types of fish traps. Furthermore, in the Florida Keys, we caught fish with a gill net. We also observed and identified the fish differently in both places. In the Keys, we went snorkeling and identified fishes from memory and pictures, but in the Mead Gardens, after we caught them, we put them in a jar and identified the species. Throughout…

As soon as I was fully conscious I went to my locater app. It said I was 500 million years from the present. I went to the website then and on the timeline I clicked 500 million years ago. During that time in the atmosphere ozone was created. It was created from the excess amount of oxygen to UV light. The ozone then filtered most of the bad UV light out. With most of the UV light being filtered out, more complicated life was able to form. At this time dinosaurs were also living. After reading this I looked around. It started to look a little somewhat closer to what earth looks like today. There was volcanoes, and bodies of water with lots of trees and high ares. There was hills ,and mountains with caves. As I was looking around at the earth…

If given the opportunity to travel anywhere throughout time I would without a doubt be to the 1980s. Growing up, my childhood was heavily influenced by what my parents had grown up on in the 80s, especially the music. As I got older, the movie culture began to be the main interest to me. This year I have found myself constantly imagining I was in an 80s having the freedoms that having been taken away from youth today. The 80s may be full of crazy hair and cheesy songs, but that's what makes it so wonderful to me.…
