The women's volleyball I.M games are no exception. I attended the game with a few friends in support of my social/service sorority that was playing the Pre-Veterinary Club. Other than the refs and the players we were the only ones in attendance. No crowd management was needed and the only seating available was the bottom row of seats that you could fold out, the rest of the rows were pushed into the wall. Even though the score was close and it was a good game, because of the small number of people in attendance those of us there didn’t get too loud or out of control. I have attended a men's basketball I.M. game in the past that was also had in Tully and there were more in attendance there then were at the women's volleyball game.…
The first AFL-NFL world championship game is being held today at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff starts soon, and the Kansas City Cheifs and the Green Bay Packers are coming off great regular seasons. This should be a good day for football, the tempeture is 72 degrees fahrenheit with clear blue skies. Reffere Norm Schachter tosses the coin in the air and Green Bay calls heads. It turns out to be heads! The Packers decide to recive the ball, so the cheifs kicker Mike Mercer lines up to kickoff and the first ever AFL-NFL world championship game begins!…
Year after year, faithful collegiate football fans gather around the tailgate of their cars in parking lots around the nation and cook mediocre meals that taste delicious at the time because they share it with their fellow fans and season ticket holders. They all live different lives, but on Saturday, every weekend, they are the same, crazed fans that keep coming back to see their favorite team or Alma matter finish the day with a victory and so they can add one more to the win column of their record. Hopefully, they do not have to experience a loss and this year’s team goes undefeated, with a shot to play in the national championship and prove to the country, in one game, that they are the best college football team in America.…
The stadium is well known for its hosting duties of the SEC baseball tournament, showcasing the top twelve teams in the Southeastern Conference. However, most Friday nights, the stadium is occupied by Hoover football fans and players. Once the band arrives, we line up and march into the stadium to our cadence. Marching begins right outside of the buses, continues into the stadium, and ends once we have reached the section of the stadium, which has been designated for the band, prior to the fans arrival. The band plays a few stand chants while the Buccanettes dance along. Once the clock strikes 10 minutes until the game, the band marches behind the visiting stands to line up for pregame. Pregame includes the entire band marching onto the field to a cadence, turning towards the audience, standing at attention, then playing the national anthem and alma matter. After these two songs are played the band will march into a new formation on the field that will allow the players to run through while the band plays the fight song. Buccanettes stand in front of the band doing our stand dance to this tune, the cheerleaders held a huge sign for the players to run through and the colorguard would run across the field with large Buccaneer flags. The audience’s reaction made the all the previous hours of getting ready worthwhile. The student section was filled with shakers, lettermen, and hundreds of students. The rest of the stadium was filled with fans from the community. After pregame, the band would march back to the stands to begin more stand chants. The band played tunes such as ESPN, sunshine, the fight song, word up, and many others. At the beginning of the second quarter we would again march out of the stadium where stretching would take place to warm up for the halftime show. The first thing…
The intense roaring of the crowd gradually faded into the vast abyss of his mind. As the last seconds ticked away, his breath got heavier and he knew that it was now or never. He knew he had to make the shot, he could not just mess this one up. At that last moment when the ball left his hands flying into the air, time seemed to have slowed down as the buzzer went off simultaneously.…
Its 6am Saturday morning, the parking lot is vacant. Staring down the road you see a line of cars as they file in one after another. By 9 o’clock the sweet aroma of ribs, burgers and hot dogs permeate the air. Friends, families and strangers alike tremble in the anticipation of Game Day. Though there are hundreds of college football programs, there is no better game day experience than that of The University of Southern California Trojans.…
Tailgating parties happen under a tent, outside the stadium, in a friend’s backyard, behind a truck bed or in your living room, recreational room, basement or garage. Remember to keep a cooler handy or a small baby raft filled with ice to keep drinks cold as well as perishable foods such as meats or dishes created with dairy products so they keep their proper temperatures the entire time. Bring along a roll of plastic wrap to keep all food containers covered when not in use to prevent flies and other insects from contaminating your best football snacks and finger foods. A roll of paper towels, a jug of water and a bottle of hand sanitizer are also good to have on hand to clean hands and spills while parting.…
Then there were two! My Carolina Panthers will face the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50. It's been amazing to watch the Panthers mature and trust the process. In sports the most difficult thing is to be patient because this is an industry that is judged by wins and losses.…
Over Thanksgiving break I did all my favorite things. I played basketball for the first two days for 2 hours, Then I went to Arkansas where I got to go to another Arkansas football game that lasted 5 hours and was a back and forth game so it kept me standing, and on the way home I watched my favorite TV show criminal minds. A lot of people have different favorite things, but some of my favorites are, playing sports, watching Arkansas football, and watching a good TV show.…
On January 26th, I made a huge error in my basketball game against West Central. To anybody else, that game might have seemed unimportant- insignificant really. They were not a conference rival or a sectional team. To me however, this game was very significant because I used to attend that school. At that game, I played all of my friends from kindergarten to fifth grade. I hoped that I didn’t make a fool of myself. I hoped to do amazing so that all of my old friends would see what a great basketball player I had become. I hoped that I would make a play so amazing that everyone would remember it. While I would certainly not forget the play I made, it was not the spectacular one I had dreamed. My gym teacher- Mr. Prairie asked the class, “Who’s ready for the basketball game tonight against West Central,” and I wondered if I was. Because of my insistent worrying I could not manage to make a play through all of gym class (we were playing basketball)…
On October 2nd, 2015, Wasilla High School and Palmer High School have a football Potato Bowl game. This is the last football game of the year and its the rivalry game. Anyways that day I was with a couple of my friends and streaking got brought into conversation. And one of them suggested I did it at the potato bowl, and I agreed. So I called a couple of people and asked if they wanted to do it. One Palmer boy and one Colony boy said that they would do it with me, so I went to the store and bought red, blue, and green and white paint. The plan was to paint all of our bodies our school colors, with a white W, P and C on the all of our chests. As the night got later and time got closer to doing it, both of the boys chickened out. Everyone after that started saying I wasn't gonna do it, and doubting me. Im the type of person who doesn't like getting told to do, and when kids are telling me Im not gonna do something, I have to. Im a daredevil. So you can probably guess what I did that night.…
I have experienced many failures in my life but one stuck out to me more than others. I have wrestled since I was 8 years old. Through all my matches I have wrestled in my life, something hit me. My sophomore year I worked really hard to make it to the state tournament. Going into the sectional tournament, my record was 19-3. I had a by the first round which put me in the semi-finals. After winning my semi-finals match 12-4, that put me in the finals against a kid I wrestled 3 times before this. He pinned me the first time we wrestled and the next 2 times we wrestled I pinned him. Going into this match I had a lot of confidence because I knew I could win. I underestimated the want he had to win. He surprised me and came out strong. My sectional…
This time last year I was a senior at the University of Illinois and it was our Homecoming. This meant we all ran around looking for an occasion to be a college student, interpret that however you may like. I was given the wonderful opportunity to serve on the 2015 Homecoming Court with 19 other outstanding seniors selected based on their campus involvement, merit and community service. I was in a parade, got to wear a cool sash and was in the halftime of the football game. But this wasn't nearly as eventful as how this homecoming weekend ended.…
Good Evening Mr. Forrest, this is Sean Anderson. I wanted to send this report involving the girl's basketball coach from Northeast Middle School. Me and Jason Collins were the officials at West Creek Middle School vs Northeast Middle School. The games started at 4:45. During the second game, which was the girl's basketball game, my partner Jason Collins made a ruling against Northeast in the 4th quarter. The girl's head coach did not like the ruling and venting her frustrations toward us. She screamed" her player was not there for the foul". While I was administering the free throws I heard her screaming and gave her the stop sign signal and told her ok that's enough. I didn't administer no technical foul even though she continue…
Sports arenas have a tendency to be an electrifying place for all people, no matter the age, race, or gender. Football stadiums, specifically, have some of the craziest fans, which create such a thrilling and upbeat atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. Beaver Stadium is home to the Penn State Nittany Lions football team. Beaver Stadium is the best football stadium in the country for many reasons. In general, college football stadiums are usually much more energetic because of the students, but with that being said Beaver Stadium is the wildest arena in the country. Beaver Stadium ranks above all other football venues by going above and beyond the criteria. For example, the atmosphere is like no other, you can hear the loud chants and even feel the bleachers shake at times. The “We Are” chants roar across the large stadium of over 100,000 people cheering for their Penn State Nittany Lions. The chants with the cheerleaders and crowd keep the people involved at all times and keep the excitement level high. The seating capacity is very high at 107,000 people, which enhances the venue into an even more electrifying stadium. On top of the atmosphere, the stadium is always clean. The seating arrangement works out perfectly so you will be able to easily and clearly see the game from your seats. Concession stands and restrooms are not far and there are a number of them to attend to the large amount of fans. The stadium is rated on high standards to be kept the best football stadium in the country.…
