When the first game came I was extremely happy yet nervous also. We ended up winning the game by the score of three runs to two although I did not get to bat at all and was put in only for two innings of defense. I was disappointed that I did not get to play much but I was happy with the win. Our second game was the next day and I hoped to get more playing time then. When that day came it turned out that we were playing an extremely skilled team. We were losing three to one in the last inning and I still hadn’t played at all the whole game. One of my friends hit a double and then another one of my teammates hit a single to knock him in to score. The score was now three to two and we had a chance to come back. My coach then decided that we needed someone faster on the bases so he called for a…
According to Lowrey and Morain (2014), this article is describing how state laws are following the Lystedt model for concussions, but are unaware of the many factors that would hinder or help with compliance and implementation. Lowrey & Morain conducted interviews with officials from the state departments of health, education, and athletic and activity associations to have them represent their agencies or organizations with the implementation of current concussion laws in their states. Some of the organizations are: interscholastic athletic associations, athletic trainers’ association, and the National Federation of State High School Association. The language of the concussion laws applied only mention high school athletes and does not apply…
I had made the team first practice was next monday and we had a two weeks until our first game. The rest of the month was a blur of boredom in class and baseball and a few new friends who also made the team. Ben and Kyle made the team…
I fell back on the mulch, full of tears, wishing that I'd never existed. The whole world was spinning. I felt like sinking deep into the grounds of the earth, and never returning. I thought I was ordinary. I did ordinary things an ordinary kid would do. But maybe not to them... The two vicious cobras hissed and snatched at me. Their venom sunk into me like a needle; It hurt. It stung . I couldn't hold the tears back anymore. Those two cobras changed my life. It was recess time, and I was playing on the playground like any other kid would do. Then came the cobras, slithering towards me like I was the prey; the tiny little mouse that had no strength. "You're a maid," they exclaimed. "You don't belong here!" The two pushed me down, my body landing…
I will always remember the kids that were playing there and I think that some of those kids would go to the mlb. So me and my dad finally arrived at the ballparks and I then rolled my bag over to where my team was staying. I then slowly walked over to my team and began to greet them. My coach looked really familiar and he was bald and wearing these shaded glasses. I also remember one of the kids named Derek who went and tossed with me in the grass on one the fields we were by and every time he went up to bat he would use a wooden bat and he hit very well in each game. We then played 2 games, one against white and one against gray. It was very funny playing the white team because Johnny, Logan, and Nick were all on that team (they used to be on the same team). Anyway, my team did well and we won against white team but lost to the gray team. I was ⅗ as an average in each game. So now on to the exciting part. The very next day, there were these challenges that everybody did called Golden Arm, Base Running, and the Homerun Derby. I decided to do the Golden Arm and the Base Running. In the base running, I didn’t do so well (the guy in first was a minute faster than me), but in the Golden Arm, that is a different story. So basically you had to stand in front of the mound and…
Through the years America has changed an incredible amount and no matter how hard the task we have always overcome what we have been faced with, specifically during the years 1776 thru 1870. During these years we overcame great difficulties that have easily been enough to tear apart other countries. America, through all these things, big and small, has held together and today is the most powerful country in the entire world. I will be summarizing the biggest accomplishments that kept this country alive and strong.…
People say everyone's a winner. I really didn’t believe that when I was little. So when I was still playing tee-ball (baseball that little kids play with a tee) and I was in the championship game, I was going for blood. It was late 2008 and I was playing for the GBSF (Green Baseball Softball Federation) team named “The Aeros.” We wore purple, black and had the Akron Aeros baseball team’s logo embroidered on our hats. So anyway, this particular season, we “Titans of Tee-Ball” went undefeated. I believe we went 14-0 or something like that. It was a very crazy season, especially the championship game; but we will get back to that later. I faintly remember one particular game…
The girl softball team had loaded first although they got put out they still was there for us. Team leader in the front of the bus and the rest filled in. The ride to the field was quite. No one talked at all during the trip to the baseball field. The bus was the place to prepare yourself. What I mean by that is the bus was for you to get your mind forced on the game of baseball. The bus was not the time to think about what you going to eat for dinner or the girl you talked to that day. Once you stepped foot on that bus it was baseball time. With us being the number 1 seed going to the champion game we had a lot of support. We had a lot of hater as well…
It was a fun game to watch, as we all thought about us playing on that court the next day. It was finally game day, and we had to play Stewartville, 2nd place from Minnesota. They were athletic, but we ended up winning the close match. Our next rival was the Bismark Thunder, 1st in North Dakota and last year's national champions. We were nervous since the were taller, stronger, faster, and just better than us. We lost to them, but we were fired up to play for 3rd place. The team headed over to the Target Center for the 3rd place game. Playing there was so neat, being under the lights, having them announce your name, and just being with the tam. We played Grafton, who placed 2nd at state in North Dakota. They looked like us, athletically, so we weren’t too worried. We came out with a bang, ready to play. Darby and Ellie pushed it up the court on fast breaks, giving us the early lead. Rilee and I played great defense on the post, as well as Marlee on the wing. Jenny came in and scored a couple before halftime. We were tied 17-17 at the half, and we knew we would have to work even harder. Halftime was over, and we played our hearts out the rest of the game. Mavis and Paige played great offensively, as well as Taylor on defense. We beat Grafton, 36-34, with Darby’s 1:00 left, 2-point shot. We were so happy that we had pulled off that win! We spent the next hour at the…
The game against Easton really set the tone for my team and we only got better from there, winning almost every game that summer and most importantly we won Districts with little to no competition, but that didn’t mean we could just try and breeze by with no effort but we knew that and played our game. I fully believe baseball is the best sport and has made me into the great young man I am today. It taught me integrity, humbleness, appreciation and most importantly how to deal with failure. I sometimes sit back and try to think about what life would be like without baseball and I simply can not. Baseball has had such a big impact on my life I can’t imagine life without it or what I would do with my free time. The thing I love most about baseball is the love-hate relationship everybody has with it. Nobody has a perfect relationship with baseball, everybody questions the love they have for it at least twice a season and the only difference between the greats and normal players is the great’s stayed with it and worked on their craft instead of taking the easy way and just giving…
So we kinda knew we were gonna win, but we didn’t want to jinx it and lose. We had a fantastic game and won 14-1. I had a total 0 plays out in the outfield and that sure was a whole lot of fun. I went 3-4 when I was batting which is ok but I could have gone 4-4, Since I wasn’t seeing the ball out of the pitcher's hand I was late on the ball and was all in all, a bad game. Our season was doing really well and ended really poorly, It ended by us losing 9-1, We were not happy nor were we upset that we lost. but we understood we needed to get better. Whereas High school baseball is gonna be way better cause we don’t play the same teams we play easier teams. Which is nice because we will win much easier and not have any competition. The high school team consistently wins regionals which is cool and they have been to state a couple…
As the baseball diamond started to fade in and out of my blurry vision, I realized something was wrong when I was still sitting on the bench. I was on varsity baseball, ( that’s what I thought I was gonna spend the rest of my life doing) my grade point average was rising, and I was surrounded by positive people all around me who gave off a positive vibe. Of course all good things must to an end right? Well my good times came to end quickly.…
I had just finished my freshman year of high school, now playing on my school’s summer baseball team. It was a perfect summer night on the baseball field; playing against one of the teams I disliked the most, Ava. It was always a close game playing them; they had good players who always played hard. Going into the 7th inning the game was tied, three to three. I came up to the plate wanting to help my team win the game. As the pitch came in my eyes lit up, it was a fastball right down the middle. I swung and hit the ball into left field.…
It was June 22 and it was a perfect day for a baseball game. My team the Diamondbacks, needed one win to get into the playoffs, and that clinching game was today. When I woke up the sun was coming up and I went to go wake up my dad so he could take me to the game. When I woke him up he looked like zombie who has not slept in weeks.…
There are many ways in everyday life that an individual can fail, whether you realize it or not. Failure is a natural thing in life for every single person, no matter who you are, you will fail one time or another before you die. Now, it depends how you move on from that failure, learn from that failure, to be a better person later on in life. That is the definition of progress and adaptation. Without adaptation and progress you will fail.…
