Venezuela here I come! As I approach my first stop I interacted with the young ladies whom were originated from Venezuela. I gained the knowledge that Venezuela have the world’s tallest waterfall known as Angel Falls. They also have over 1400 bird’s species. Uniquely, Venezuela national instrument is a type of small guitar called the Cuatro. As a matter of fact, the Venezuelan flag is colored yellow, blue and red. The yellow is for land wealth, the blue for the sea that separates Venezuela from Spain, and the red represents the blood shed by the heroes of independence. Moreover, they allowed …show more content…
me to taste one of their most popular dishes. This dishes is known as Aprea. I was excited and quite nervous at the same time given that I never ate this before. Moreover, they informed me about this special dish. In other words, I was told its made up of ground maize dough or cooked flour and its often served with cheese, avocado, or split to make sandwiches. By the same token, Colombia is also known for their Aprea’s.
Which brings me to my second stop on my international trip across the world.
When I notice the bright colors at the Colombia station, they caught my eye. I later learned that the colors represented their flag. The gentleman and young woman elaborate on the meaning of the colors on their flag. I was informed that, the yellow symbolize sovereignty and justice, blue as loyalty and vigilance, and red represents the valor shown and the victory achieved during the battles for independence from Spain. I later then, took it upon myself to read some interesting fun facts about Colombia on their poster board. I learned that Colombia produces 60% of the world most expense emeralds. Not only that but also, Sierra Nevada DE Santa Marta in Colombia is known as the tallest seaside mountain in the world. Equally, their also ranked #17 most mega diverse countries in the world. Colombia also has no
seasons.
When it comes to my next international stop known as Ecuador, a country smaller than the size of Nevada, is in western South America. It borders the Pacific Ocean at the Equator and is a tropical region. The capital of Ecuador is Quito. Quito is in Northern Central Ecuador. One interesting fact about Ecuador is that it contains the highest active volcano in the world, Cotopaxi. The volcano is located just below the capita, Quito. Due to their new constitution, the economic status of Ecuador, a Third World country, is rising. Furthermore, the national tree of Ecuador is the cinchona tree which produces Quinine, the first drug used to prevent and treat malaria. Ecuador is one of only two countries in South America that does not share a border with Brazil. Mount Chimborazo is Ecuador’s highest mountain. They’re is the closest country to the sun. In other words, due to the mountain’s location along the equatorial bulge, its summit is the farthest point from the Earth’s core. This also means that Ecuador is the closest country to space.
In the same fashion, my last stop was over in Spain and they amazed me with some interesting facts. They started off with their country located and I was told that Spain is in Europe. Moreover, the currency used in Spain is the Euro. In addition, Spain produces a large amount of renewable energy, including wind power and solar power. My favorite was the variety of foods and unique dishes Spain has such as paella (a type of rice dish) and tapas (a range of small snacks or appetizers). I tried it and I loved it.
Now that my trip has come to an end, my experience at the event was wonderful and very educational. My bonded with the students who were displaying their boards and I now have an opportunity to participate in an upcoming event with the international students, However, I won’t be the one standing outside waiting to get in. I will be helping setting up and helping the students who come to visit the event.
