Personal Narrative-You Can Beat Me !
“You can beat her!”
“Come on, don't let her do that to you!”
“Don't let her beat you!”
“She's just a girl!”
I hear always hear this. Heckling offends some people, but not me. I smile. I laugh a little, and give them all they can handle.
I have played soccer ever since I could remember. Granted, I have a horrible memory. I guess I was about 5 when I started, so that makes this year my 12th as a soccer player. I know the game as well as anyone, and I don’t mind saying it. Don't ever mention watching soccer games around my sisters. They'll immediately tell you not to invite me. I talk to the players.
I talk to the refs, and the coaches, and the people in the stands. I share my opinion about the calls and the goals. I tell them about that obnoxious

You must overcome the game itself, the players, and the coaches. You face the refs, the field conditions, and the burger you ate as a pre-game snack. You also contend with the mom on the sideline who talks about players and what's for dinner.
People are annoying. They tell you what you can and can't do. Whether it's attending a party or getting the shoes that everybody has. They even question your ability to play soccer.
I can play soccer. I know I can. Many people know I can. That doesn't stop boys at The Turfs, where I play pickup games, from rolling their eyes when I’m on their teams. It doesn't stop them from not passing to me, even when I'm the only one open and in perfect position to score. Or when I have the ball and no one challenges me. To me, nothing is more disrespectful than not trying. Challenge me. If you beat me, you beat me. But please, don't insult me by not trying.
Why is having a pony tail and your nails painted weak? I might look great, but I can also kick your tail –and look great doing it. It just means that I look that great doing it. Being a girl isn't an excuse, it's an advantage. Boys will be boys and will continue to doubt what all a girl can do. The best we can do is smile at them and laugh a little. Then I, feel sorry for their moms, cause they're about to watch a girl beat their little

The next person I interviewed is Alex Torres a 17 year old high school senior, told me why he loved soccer so much, “soccer is actually a lot of fun. You have more planning and you don’t get hurt as much as you think. In fact you have to be more flexible then powerful to play the game.” I asked him if he thought that his heritage liked football more than other sports and he said, “Yes, because it was the only sport we could really play when we lived in México, all my friends there play it too.” Alex is very active, and has participated in many soccer games.…

My whole life since the age of 3 revolved around sports. I excelled in soccer and continued to play at the collegiate level. During my high school years I wanted to be the best player I could so I started reading fitness magazine and as much about nutrition as I could. Soccer has taken a substantial part of my life as I live, breath, and die futbol. I play club as well as high school soccer and I have to manage my school work with soccer and it’s sometimes a pain, but I always look at the light at the end of the tunnel. One day I might be up until 12 at night doing homework, but I always think if you put in the work, you will reek the benefits later on. All those sleepless nights will make my parents proud of me for being the first college graduate of the family. They’ll look at my diploma hanging from the wall and know all their sacrifices they’ve made for me paid off and they’ll know I made it in life. They want me to be the person they could never be and I plan to achieve that by being a…

I believe that every person deserves the opportunity to feel the amount of passion that I do. From my freshman year through my senior year, I coached teams of third and fourth graders to fifth and sixth graders. This was a whole new experience to me. I was able to genuinely teach these young kids about soccer and influence their decisions. My intentions were for them to enjoy playing soccer at a young age. If they enjoy it and continue to play, they will eventually…

It was a very pleasant evening and I was at soccer practice at the South Barrington turf soccer fields. I loved to play soccer and I took it really seriously. Everything I do I go all out. There was no such thing as a second gear for me, I would always go 110 percent. When I was on the field, I could be looked at as a violent person and I would constantly get carded for rough play. During some of our matches I struck so much fear in my opponents they were afraid to guard me.…

Finally, when I moved to New Orleans I started volunteer work at the Children’s Hospital and helped with pop up clinics for the Latino community twice. Overall I found that helping others shouldn't be something seen as duty or mandatory, it should be spontaneous. Through others experiences and hardships we learn and grow as human beings, not only did I enjoy helping others but I felt that it helped me with my problems. Having moved around so much and meet so many people and living by myself so many years I came to truly be thankful for my blessings and specially for my hardships. Hermann Hesse once said, "I have always believed, and I still believe, that whatever good or bad fortune may come our way we can always give it meaning and transform it into something of value." Helping others made me realize that we all need help and that my way to help others would be through their health. It also taught me not to judge anybody, especially if you don't know what they have been through. I am hard believer that everything happens for a reason, and all the weekends I spend watching my parents help others helping others myself made me the determined person that I am today. Finally, the most important lesson I learned was to never give up, no matter how hard the task is or how bad the problem is there will always be someone willing to help and you can always be both sides to that, the helper or the one who needs…

Soccer is a sport that I have been playing for many, many years. Through these long, tiring practices, and close-wins, I have learned so much. Now, you may think that a girl this shy in the classroom may not have confidence on the field, but, you would be wrong. On the soccer field, I feel brave, confident, and I feel as if I can make anything happen when I have the ball. In fact, in the five years that I have been playing soccer, the biggest thing that it has taught…

My soccer career started as soon as I could walk, but somehow I still wasn’t very good at it at the age of 13. You'd assume ten years of practice and a sister who'd been the mvp of her high school team would have rubbed off on me, but that wasn’t the case. That is to say, I wasn't absolutely pitiful. I was pretty quick, and I could get a good foot on the ball about four times out of ten.…

May 19th, 2013 I had dreamt of that day for almost four years. I know I can’t be the only person who feel this way. I remember it as if it was just yesterday. So many different emotions going through my mind all at once. Happiness, Sadness, I felt relieved because it was almost over but at the same time I felt anxious and overly excited to just leave and go far away. 389 seniors were going to walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. As I was writing my personal narrative for my composition 1 class, it easily made my mind boggle. After I had got started on my personal narrative, it was easy for me to keep writing and keep following along the story line. The main strength of mine that the essay played to was my creativity and my flexibility for different writings, because I have never written an essay as serious and sad as this one, but I did have to add my happy ending when I finished the story. I wanted it to be very attention grabbing with a twist, but I also wanted it to be very emotional.…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…
