I really enjoyed reading all the articles for this module because it gave me a new perspective and lens of viewing marriage and family therapy. I felt that I could relate to the first article that discussed ethical perspectives inside of a classroom setting. I believe that this article illustrated the way in which students have personal and professional value conflicts, which leads to figuring out how to solve these dilemmas. Also, while reading these articles I found these new perspectives to be very interesting and they made me think of the specific and unique challenges that marriage and family therapists have to deal with. When reading these articles I realized that marriage and family therapists have more challenges and concerns to deal with and process compared to individual therapist, such as dual relationships with family and/or group clients. I believe individual therapy is a better fit for me and will be my expertise area when I finish school. If I needed to provide family and group services I believe I would try my best to do so by getting further supervision and training in family systems and group techniques. I think I could provide family and group therapy if I got further training and followed the suggestions stated in these articles (e.g. ensuring clients understanding about counseling, making accurate assessments of boundaries, and being prepared to assess the impacted of the disclosure).
