Furthermore, every member was engaged and present during all the meetings, which I really appreciated. Everyone was respectful, but sometimes I felt like people held back because they wanted to be respectful. Also I think they held back to avoid conflict. I didn’t say anything at the time, but now that I think about it, it just showed that even though we were more comfortable with each other it is still was at surface level. We never brought up topics about religion, race, and sexual orientation for the same reason. I have to say I would have liked for us to touch on those subjects, because that way we could have really tested the group relationship. I didn’t initiate the conversation because I was to scare too.
However, maybe avoiding conflict was a good idea. Thankfully we had a good time every time we had T-groups. We all asked each other about thing we mentioned the time before, which showed how much we cared. Like for example, a group member volunteers for the fire department and every group we would ask her how it was going. The first half was not like this for me, I had a lot of anxiety about T-group. I mean I still didn’t speak up much but I did feel a lot more
