personal responsibility
Personal responsibility is the act of taking ownership of and doing the basic things we are expected to do socially, morally and legally. Admitting that we are wrong is not always an easy task, but when we do make mistakes, we have the responsibility to make things right and we need to accept the consequences that come from our actions. Not all consequences are bad. For example, if you are responsible and do your assignments well and take your time, you have a positive consequence of a good grade to look forward to. Accepting the consequences is not easy either, but in turn, it helps us to realize that it is easier to do the right thing the first time, instead of going through the process of negative consequences. Because we are human, we do sometimes fall short of our goals or sometimes we set unrealistic goals. We may not be able to change certain things in our lives, but we can AWAYS change ourselves. We just need to understand that people are always watching us and we need to be good examples to those around us. In education, as students, we are responsible for our own academic success. Being responsible with time management is important because, besides wanting to do well with education, we still have a life outside of school: including work, socially and family. In college classes, we need to plan to be responsible students and manage our time. Effective strategies for success as a student would be, not procrastinating, we should turn our assignments in on time, study hard, work well with a team, do our responsibilities within those teams, and we need to organize our time so we that we can have enough time to finish our assignments to our standards, as well as turning them in on time.
It is crucial for us to all be personally responsible in all aspects of our lives because it helps us with becoming good role models. In our careers, we need to be good examples to our coworkers. In our families, we need to be good role models for our children.

This article is a based on a study that was done on 42 students ranging from ages 11-12 regarding personal and social responsibilities. This article did a great job explaining how the children can be successful individuals and how they have to learn to be responsible for themselves and with others, and to incorporate strategies that help them exercise control over their lives.

This source is a great tool for parents to learn about teaching their children about taking responsibility. It also is a great source for parents who need a little help with nurturing, treasuring goodness in their children, and helping them learn how to have good morals.
