Personal responsibility means to take responsibility for my own actions or mistakes. If there is not personal responsibility, it can create a negative impact on your success as a student. Personal responsibility is important to be a successful student because everyone needs to be held accountable for their actions. It is important not to blame others for our lack of success.

Without accepting personal responsibility you will not be 100% successful as a college student or in life. If one doesn’t accept personal responsibility this can have a negative impact on a student. We can’t fault others for our lack of success. We as students have to make sure we don’t “pass the buck” meaning throw the blame on others for our lack of success. Previously I was a college student for 4 1/2 years at the University of N. C. at Charlotte. I had a serious problem with procrastination. Now if I had accepted my personal responsibilities as a student I would have had my bachelor’s degree by now. I started college right after high school and the high school mentality followed me. I waited to the last day to study for exams, do my papers and assignments. These bad habits contributed to me not being successful. I now know what it takes to be a successful college student.
