It’s amazing how much time is given to elder care but without it many older adults would suffer. With the number of older Americans growing there is an increase need for care but the appropriate funding is required on both ends financially and more support and education is need among staff and administration to actually supply the proper essentials to the aging population. Being a CNA goes beyond caring for sick patients and keeping their patients healthy in a variety of setting as Ai-Jen Poo mentioned in the audio interview incorporating those attributes of dignity and value into the work and allowing the geriatric population to be surrounded by love care and connection is vital to getting older. Nursing aides are the backbone of these health…
I want to be a CNA because I’m caring and I love to help people especially people who can’t, do for themselves and need some assistance with anything especially elderly people and CNAs. Do so much for the people who are in short and long term facilities. CNAs are the closest thing to them besides their family members. They know almost everything there is to know about their residents. Like some of them tell their CNAs confidential things that they never told anyone before.…

A physician assistant is a state license medical professional. Under the physician’s supervision, they are trained to examine patients, diagnose injuries and diseases, and provide treatment. The roles of a physician assistant is to help expand the field of health care. With my field of study being biology, I have plans to contribute and serve people while working in health care. My vision to contribute to the healthcare field will not only take place in the hospital, but outside too. Along with my biology degree, I plan to obtain a degree within psychology and a possible…
I have been a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistance) for 7months now, and so far I enjoy it.Now each and every day it’s not going to be a wonderful great day. There’s going to be times when you’re going to just want to walk out and say "forget this, or I don't got time for this mess”, but you’re going to just have to get over it, there elderly people and half of them don't got it all, so just take a deep breath or walk away and come back when a resident has said something to you that you didn't like.…
Waking up in the middle of the night coughing and gasping for air occurred on a regular basis for me as a child. I slept with an inhaler and a nebulizer next to my bed in the event of the next attack. My asthma attacks were frightening for my parents and especially for me as I felt as if I was on the verge of death whenever I suddenly could not breathe. Although I was always in and out of emergency rooms and doctor visits at a young age, having tried everything from nebulizer treatments to bronchodilators, I was always comforted by the doctors and nurses who always took the time to explain and alleviate any concerns and anxiety I had. Seeing their devotion to their profession and for patient care has motivated me to pursue graduate study in the field of nursing to invest my future to coordinate and implement quality healthcare for others.…
There have been many occasions in my life that I have spent time in hospitals, nursing homes and by the side of a sick relative. When my grandfather was dying of cancer, he spent as much time as he could at home with his family by his side and when the time came, he was transferred to hospital, I was 14 at the time, still very young I knew it was not about how I was feeling, this pain was his and my grandmothers. I helped look after him for the two years he was diagnosed and it was during that time, I knew where my heart was and that was nursing. With my own experience of being in and out of hospital with two complicated pregnancies, I was in awe of the nurses and midwives who did everything they could to make me feel secure and safe, I was inspired and made an already certain career choice, even more evident.…

My first job was working as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). I started working in the field when I graduated high school. A close friend introduced me to the nursing field. My friend said the job didn’t require much education, you just had to like working with people. I thought well, I am really good with people, I thought this should be easy. I worked as a CNA for about five years, and I realize that the job didn’t offer any challenges. I felt as if I wasn’t really going anywhere, I just had a job. I decided that maybe if I had a specialty that I would feel more challenged. I decided to become a hospice CNA. A hospice CNA cares for patients in the end stages of life. Well, I didn’t know what I was signing up for. I didn’t realize…

I am Jeylin Moya I have been a nursing assistant for eleven years. I worked everywhere and in every department except the morgue although I do have the experience in post mortem care. However, my job can be stressful at times but I love the rush I get from a combative patient to comforting a loved one. When I first became a nursing assistant, I couldn’t handle the bodily fluids and pressure ulcers. After being a nurse assistant for so many years, I feel immune to everything a patient say or does. Nothing surprises me anymore I lost hope in humanity. Nevertheless, I love what I do that’s why I have decided to pursue my education in nursing. I want to eventually become a nurse practitioner that’s my main goal. Besides my medical career,…
When my twin sister had surgery, I helped care for her, even though she is a little annoying, but I enjoyed doing it. While she was recovering, I helped her keep comfortable by getting her drinks and medicine. Laney told me that I did a good job while taking care of her. My mom who is a nurse also told me how I did good job. Caring take of my sister and hearing that I did a good job made me feel really good inside. This got me thinking that maybe I have what it takes to help people when they become sick. Then I decided I want to pursue a job in the healthcare industry.…
