Personal Statement: A Career In Sports Science
I Susana Chavez want to pursue my career in Sports Science and become a physical therapist. Every since I was five years old I played soccer and oh boy did I love it. Soccer was always a great get away for me to meeting to teammates to visiting different cities, it was all fun until I was 13 years old, I had a game and on that day it was the worst game ever, I got tackled so hard I landed on my back/side the pain unreal. I didn’t want to go to the doctors just wanted to heal by itself and next thing you know I quit playing the sport I love. I try to go back but I was too scared. So from there I just stopped completely never played on a team since then. As time passed every now and then I will teach my little cousin the basics I soccer so he
can join AYSO so we would practice and practice and practice not going to lie he sometimes he would wake up sore or complain that his back hurts or ankle. From that moment it triggered in my head okay so look we are not going train no more we are going to take it easy and rest but also stretch out our muscles until your all good. Was only 16/17 not knowing really what I was doing but to me it seemed I was doing right. Ill buy a foam roller to get rid of all that deep tissue in his body, then put his ankle against the wall rotate in in circles and all. From all that helping I did for him made me feel great like I love to help others and that’s there’s hope with a little time things will get better and you’ll come back better and stronger. Also me pursuing this career will take me take care of others and myself. I would never want anyone to just stop playing a sport they love just cause a small injury or big. I want them to keep pushing until there are no more options. I might stop playing the sport I love I have no regret for how it ended. Cause it opened my eyes to something much better.
