When I have a load of work to do, I manage my time efficiently by sitting down, playing music, with no distractions, and get work done before the assignment’s due date. As soon as I receive a task, whether it be due in a month or the next week, I write it down in my planner, phone, and computer to remind myself to complete my homework. Dealing with jobs and school projects can be tremendously stressful and overwhelming but the only way you will be able to cope with this amount of stress is by staying calm and relaxed not by freaking out. I have never had a job before so I have never dealt with stress that a job can cause but I have had to deal with stress from school work. Projects and deadlines can cause many people to go insane but if you do not allow the stress to get to you then you can complete the assignment in no time. For example, in the 10th grade I had a huge health project due that was worth 300 points. I of course procrastinated and waited until a week before to even read the instructions. I thought the project would be simple and would take a minimum of an hour but I was wrong. After reading over the project I was completely lost and didn’t know what I was supposed to do. I started to think of a strategy I could use to break up the project over four days so I would complete it on time and have it turned in by Friday. Throughout the week I would do a certain amount of the project each night so that it didn’t stress me out doing all of it in one night instead I only did a little per night. This strategy allowed me to stay relaxed and calm but still complete the project and have it turned in by its deadline. Mine and Ehrenreich’s experiences are both similar and different at the same time. We both face stressful situations and we both learn how to deal with them appropriately but we also have two complete different situations. Ehrenreich is dealing with her bosses who she has no control over and I am dealing with myself. I am able to control what I do and when I do it. I am the one who waited until the last minute to do a project and cause me to become angry and stressed, but Ehrenreich doesn’t have that ability she has to do what her bosses say and when they say it. Even though Ehrenreich and I share similarities we also share differences and how…

by Gina Lalli There have been many concerns in the past decades as to whether attending daycare during infancy produces negative or positive effects on the development of children (Belsky and Steinberg 1978, Booth et al. 2002, Egeland and Hiester 1995, Farran and Ramey 1977, Field 1991, Lamb 1996, Peisner-Feinberg et al. 2001, Schwartz 1983). Many of these concerns are influenced by the fear that separating infant from their mother may cause emotional harm to the child or disrupt the mother-infant bond (Belsky and Steinberg 1978, Booth et al. 2002, Egeland and Hiester 1995, Farran and Ramey 1977, Lamb 1996, Schwartz 1983). It is also questioned as to whether home-based maternal care or nonrelative day-care provides the child with more opportunity to develop cognitively and socially (Belsky and Steinberg 1978, Field 1991, Lamb 1996, Peisner-Feinberg et al. 2001). In order to ensure that day-care is not creating adverse effects on children, research on day-care institutions and on the outcomes of children who attend them have been done. The intent of this paper is to explore the concerns adults have regarding the negative effects that children may experience from attending day-care, and how these perceptions are higher than the actual risks in some cases, as well as to describe how high-quality day-care may even benefit certain groups of children. The purpose is to create a better understanding as to how day-care influences children and impacts their development. One aspect of the sociological relevance of this topic stems from socially constructed ideas of women being the primary provider for children and the influence of their presence in their children’s lives. The concern of day-care having adverse effects 1…

Realizing the big changes and deleterious effects on my personal growth and daily life, I decided to make a better time management first. A timetable which is clearly specified the tasks I have to do every day and the deal time I have to complete them is produced. Wanting to sleep earlier, I have to finish all the stuff by 1 am to ensure the plan can be succeed. My plan for having a better sleeping habit was carried out quite successfully in the first 2 weeks with the help of my roommate. Whenever she saw me still awake at 1 am, she asked me for $5 fine. After giving her the fine, I would go to bed directly in order not to loss even more money. However, even though I could sleep by 1am in those 2 weeks, I couldn’t complete all the tasks which I stated in the timetable strictly. Procrastination is one of my serious problems. Since I wanted to finish the works before deadline, I usually stated the start time of the work few days before the deadline. Yet, it also became the excuse for me to delay my job. Whenever I saw it was already the time for me to sleep, I would just simply go to sleep as I think I still have time to deal with it. As a result, I was still a “deadline – fighter “on the day before the assignment hand-in day.…
