Since I enjoy travelling, hiking and camping, after entering Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University I chose
Tourism Management as my major. This area of activity had never been especially popular in Georgia until recently, and so I think the potential for development is unlimited. Georgia could become one of the best tourism destinations in the world, and I believe that my generation should accomplish this important mission.
To be amongst those who actively build up the tourism sector in my country, my classmates and I established a small “tour agency.” We have already organized more than five trips, mostly for Georgian students, to the mountains in Shatili and Svaneti and the wine country. We are trying not only to attract foreigners but also to develop internal tourism in Georgia.
In terms of schooling I have always excelled in my studies. I received top marks in the Georgian National
Exams in five subjects: English, Geography, Georgian, History, and “Skills.” As a result I was admitted to one of the best economics universities in Georgia. I was also awarded two scholarships, the university’s and the president’s bursaries, which covered the majority of my fees. Furthermore, I was amongst the top five students in my university’s ratings.
After graduation, having worked for several months in clothing import sector, I decided to open two of my own clothing and footwear shops in the central parts of Tbilisi. I am now the proud owner of my very own business
– and as this has always been my lifelong dream, it’s great to say that I was able to achieve it at the age of 21.
