Personal Statement: I Am Farhana Rahman
. I am Farhana Rahman. I would be a good disease detective camp counselor because I am motivated, hardworking and no matter what type of work it is, I try to accomplish it with honesty, love and respect. I got the motivation from the CDC Disease Detective Camp Counselors of 2016. All of them seemed to be so happy being with us. They were so friendly and so caring. I got the inspiration from them to be a counselor. I just do not want to be a counselor because they are going to give the stipend money but it’s because honestly when I was a camper, I really loved that week that I spent at CDC. I love being there and I have learned many things. Through this counselor position I can lead the new campers to learn and enjoy. It was an incredible opportunity

Since the beginning of my academic endeavors, I have long cherished a dream to be a member of the social science research community, which gives our society progressive insights into human ecology. I began my undergraduate studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey with a passion for ecological justice and with the intention of majoring in environmental studies. Ramapo College's progressive liberal arts foundation provided me with ample room to explore the multifarious array of social science courses. As I took more social science courses, however, my understanding of human social groups underwent a metamorphosis. As a result, I decided to pursue a degree in Social Science, with minors in the two fields I felt most passionately interested in, Women's Studies and African American Studies.…

In today’s society, communication is everywhere , but for me the best and most influential form of communication is visual. Images are a huge part of todays world and in my eyes has the greatest potential to document the factual or express the imaginary. They can stimulate thought and challenge opinions. In a world where we are becoming increasingly disconnected from ourselves and each other I strongly believe that images help to reconnect us all. No other form of communication is as powerful, nor can speak to so many people across the world as the universal language of photography.…

The enthusiasm towards the study of the complexity of the human body and how to cure them from disease was triggered when I experienced myself being seriously injured several times since I was a kid. Being involved in fights like a boy since primary school, spending almost an hour laying down on the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and getting my upper lips penetrated by my own upper teeth during Tae Kwon Do training a year ago, I am quite immune to the hospital aroma and witnessing doctors saving lives. Since the pain I experienced from the accidents is completely unbearable, I would eagerly want to contribute my effort in reducing or completely stop the pain from hunting people’s lives by involving myself in ever-challenging career that is Medicine. Besides, growing up with blessed natural intelligence by getting straight A’s in primary and secondary schools, my madness and fascination towards biology never meet an end, driving me to permanently see myself as a successful doctor in the future.…

Being born to a highly educated family in July 1995, I became familiar with the world of books and reading from the earliest days of my childhood. As I matured, my reading matured with me. Gradually, the children books turned into youth novels and eventually they gave their place to literary masterpieces. As time passed I realized that within these readings, a sense of curiosity has rooted in my personality that lead to being accepted in Iranian national Olympiad and attending one of the best schools in my country, Mofid2, where I was officially awarded as the “Bookworm of the school”. Mofid2 is well known by the distinctive method of teaching that is based more on experience and observation than just sticking…

Architecture is in my opinion not just a demanding science and technology but also a fascinating art. After nearly five years of my undergraduate program as a major of Architecture at Shandong Jianzhu University, I became even more determined to pursue my chosen major and corresponding career. Architecture is actually a complicated and comprehensive scientific discipline with a broad range of profound knowledge. China enjoys a long glorious history of architecture, but for some reason or another China’s education in architecture lags behind such developed countries as the United States in recent years. Hoping that I can make use of my architectural design to serve people and yet realizing that I still have a lot to learn in this field, I am looking forward to an opportunity to further my learning at an advanced level at your esteemed university, in the hope of broadening my horizons, sharpening my insights and enhancing my professional potential.…

Growing up under the nourishment of the vast Hulun Buir grassland, one of the three largest grasslands in the world, I always cherish what nature has given us and have learned the important meaning of agricultural industry – especially the stock raising sector for people living there. I was born and raised by Parents that were not opportune to go through a formal Education of whatsoever. They vow to themselves (an unspoken vow) that I (Jibril) or any of my siblings will never pass through the same route as theirs, they sent me to the best school in Northern Nigeria ( Elkanemi College of Islamic Theology). My late mother instill the belief and the discipline in me that if a lady or a girl can make it in a classroom, she see no reason why I cannot make it. My father reminded me that he will spend his last penny as a business man to send me to the best school on the land and carter for all my moral, financial, parental and academic needs so long as I promise that I can make it to the top echelon level of academic ladder in the country. I DID JUST THAT, and my Quest and aspiration is to specialize in my God chosen career and field of study in a country where I will be given the opportunity to show what I can do. In Nigeria I saw people spending six to seven years on M sc program. Elkanemi College of Islamic theology is a Natural Science school, after my graduation from the college in 2003,I applied to study pharmacy as my first choice, it is difficult to get admission into most of the Nigerian Universities because of corruption and nepotism, you have to know a politician or a prominent academician that is ready to help you out in getting admission. My father is a business man and he knows no body in the academia or political circle, he was very frustrated but he told me never to give up, he asked me to cram a dictionary I said Ok, I took my precious time to read over three hundred and fifty English novels, with eighty of them or so by James Hadley Chase(Raymond Brabazon Rene), I re applied in 2004 but to no avail, in the 2005/2006 academic session I was lucky enough to have a politician who happens to be the former provost of Sir Kashim College of Education Maiduguri (Alhaji Maina Mahmud Mafa). On February 2006 I got admission…
