Before she left, she thanked me for listening. She said that she had no one to vent to at home because of her husband’s medical conditions she didn’t want to be another burden in his life so she wouldn’t share her struggles with him. That day impacted my life for the better because it opened my eyes to the idea that people do not always want someone to talk to them, instead they want a listening ear. The service might not be huge, but it could brighten someone’s day or even save someone else a few minutes in their busy day. I take many material things for granted that give me enjoyment such as my laptop, iPod, iPhone, my trainer, and a gym membership. I am thankful to have a great trainer and a gym membership so I can get big, bulky, lean, cut, in shape, and to get ready for my competition in May. Also, other thing that I can’t for granted is having my own car to drive to school and take out on the weekend to have some fun or hang out with friends. I am grateful for not having to work and have a job to help support my family. I am grateful for my mom because of all the things and work she does around the house and help out the family as much as she can. Out of all the things I own, I am most thankful of the things that made me who I am now. Last Thanksgiving, I lost my chance to give thanks to a special person of my life, and so I don’t want to loose my chance of giving thanks ever again. I appreciate all that happened from the start of my life till now. I am thankful of being born, thankful for being loved, thankful for being able to write this essay.... But out of all these things I’m thankful of, there are some that I think build my personality the most. Without these, I would not be who I am now. I’m glad of being who I am, and being able to appreciate being who I truely am. There are many others who cannot appreciate themselves and others. Luckily I’m not one of them, therefore, I am here to give thanks. This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for being alive and healthy, for my…

After further research, I have also learned that UC Davis is one of the most ethnically diverse colleges in America, which is an important factor to me, as a person of color. Furthermore, I am deeply interested in majoring in Biological Sciences and I have read that UC Davis has a strong STEM program.…
