University of Miami, Florida State University, and Florida and Agricultural and Mechanical University are all outstanding colleges but the great Bethune-Cookman University caught my attention. Bethune had a great faculty and staff and the people were very friendly when I came to Daytona for orientation. My best friend of eight years, Bethune’s great nursing program, and how God is involved in everything you do on campus is what brought me here.…
Like his brothers (Julius, Edgar, & William), John too attended Howard University. During his matriculation at Howard, John made a point to leave behind a lasting impression. Holding roles in student government as Freshman Class President and leadership roles as President of the History Club and Kappa Sigma Debating Club (just as his brother Edgar A Love). Displaying versatility, John wasn’t simply…
I am writing in regards to the Adjunct Professor of Psychology position opening in the Psychology Department. Judson University’s faith identity mentions several fundamental principles that are important in my life as well as my upbringing as Baptist. Considering that, Judson University bases its learning based on the fundamentals of education and Christianity is a holistic method of teaching students.…
I am writing to apply to become a certified instructor for UConn Early College Experience.…
My perspectives of life and morality will allow me to contribute to Liberty University’s missions in a number of ways. I see my purpose in life as merely a chance to change lives and to obey the calling that God places on my heart. I believe it is my jobs as a child of God to be the hands and feet of Christ no matter where that takes me. As a pastor’s daughter, I have been taught the perspectives of life and morality and how they reflect the way I live my life. I keep my perceptions of life and morality positive so I am assured my light for Christ is never mistaken or never overlooked. These perspectives will allow me to contribute a lot towards Liberty University’s missions and will allow God to use me for the advantage of His glory.…
I have the utmost confidence that Rutgers University can both aid me and provide the opportunity to significantly contribute to my primary educational, desired career, and overall life goals. With your exceptionally well regarded campus, student diversity, educational atmosphere, brilliant programs, and the mere fact that you have recently provided the student body with the choice of this great states only NROTC program, how could it not? Rutgers offers near anything a student could desire to study and pursue, and with Rutgers beside you, I certainly believe that ones possibilities are infinite. The honor of being able to attend Rutgers is something I've always desired, but have yet to achieve. Perhaps now will be my time.…
I started taking classes part-time at OSU my junior year of high school, and full-time my senior year. By the time I graduated high school, I took 40 credit hours of classes at OSU and had a 3.81 OSU GPA. Despite the tough coursework I found time to partake in numerous extracurricular activities. When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…
Upon entering my freshman year of college I recognized I was not fully prepared for the rigorous academic scheme provided at my school, Howard University. One of the main observations was my peers received educational training in Advanced Placement General Chemistry, Advanced Placement Organic Chemistry and even had the opportunity to attend actual college courses during his/her high school careers. Those classes were not an option for me through my high school. Soon I found myself falling into a pit of failure. Long hours of studying and tutoring only produced D’s, F’s and an occasional C on my Chemistry reports. I was thoroughly ready to quit. I still remember sitting in my professor’s office in tears when he informed me that my academic…
In 1999 on August 3rd I was born in Canton, Georgia. My parents raised me in my infant years in Canton, but we later moved to Pickens County. I attended Tate Elementary, Pickens Middle, and Pickens High. School was always problematic and challenging. My testing scores were always below average and I felt like I was inferior when compared to my other classmates. During middle school I developed depression, gained 200 pounds, and was diagnosed with dyslexia and pre-diabetes.…
I ended up going to Richland Community College due to my lack of education and the consequences of slacking during high school. I’ve never been the brightest child nor did I take education really seriously while I was in high school. Playing video games on constant basis did not help with my GPA at all. From the video games to the testing anxiety, it made me just want to skip through high school and go to college. But neglecting school work has finally come to a toll as I took the ACT and the SAT with terrible scores due to my testing anxiety. I’ve come to Richland Community College for assistance and for a better start on my education. Hopefully…
My love for Marquette University started with the campus. Being nestled in the heart of Milwaukee, Marquette feels like a close-knit community, but has an open, urban vibe. During my first campus trip I toured all of the main buildings, and was particularly impressed by the new engineering building. The tour guides encouraged questions from prospective students. They didn’t give us canned responses, or answer from a script; instead they gave thoughtful and concise answers that showed what Marquette is all about. Marquette’s prestigious engineering department, academic excellence, and famed namesake all led me to want to attend more than any other school.…
Eating an apple is political. Maybe you got it from the bodega downstairs that always smells like burnt coffee and toothpaste. Maybe that apple came from New Jersey, or maybe it came from Washington State. If it came from Washington, a trucker probably brought it to you. He might have gotten tired on the road, did a little cocaine to keep him up, lost control, and run a car off the road, injuring all five of its passengers.…
I knew that this would be a challenging task for a majority of students, since many students are still learning their letter-sound correspondence; however, I was able to successfully complete this strategy with the class’s highest student. I displayed an image on my screen of a little boy throwing a frisbee to his dog. I asked the student to write a sentence describing the image. The student was able to write, “The dog is running.” After the student explained what she wrote, we cut up her sentence. I explained to the student that we wanted to make her sentence grow by using descriptive words. She was then able to expand her sentence by writing “The brown dog is running.” The student then began to describe other things in the…
On my journey to Iowa State, I was hoping to make my new friends and memories. Experiences that I would always remember with joy. So far, my adventure has been fulfilled with great experiences. My freshman year of college I notice I had a common routine that I would follow everyday. It consisted of home, walking past the Campanella, and lastly my to go place, Gilman hall. Now, I am a sophomore and I still follow the same routine everyday.…
One thing thing that people may not know about me is that my family has chickens. But on a serious note, this course is one that will be the most challenging for me; but it’s also one that will teach me the most to help me reach my goals in the near future. I will be attending Kansas State University next year to get a minor in pre-nursing and leadership. There I expect the professors to assign many essay in which I will need to know how to academically write. I'm eager to learn how to do this and more in the next couple months.…
