Officer Jane Roberts got pregnant by the FTO, Andrew Tibbets. The FTO is not willing to leave his wife and now will not have anything to do with Officer Jane Roberts. There was a confrontation and Sergeant Williams witnessed it but never mentioned it to either one of them, thinking that they could take care of it themselves. Well, since the FTO now wants nothing to do with Officer Roberts, she went to Sergeant Williams to let him know what was going on between the two of them. She told him that she was pregnant and that the baby was Officer Tibbets. The Sergeant informed her that she would have…
The training of police officers are rigid, exhaustive and provides opportunities to demonstrate leadership and criminal justice services to federal, state, municipal, and international agencies and partners (The FBI Academy, 2014). Bundled with these trainings include development of effective communication skills that will enable law enforcement officers to build a connection with the public, victims and colleagues. Since the work of police officers entail communicating with people of different background, preconceptions and attitudes, it is necessary that they adjust their communication practices (Barker, 2008). These practices can either be verbal or non-verbal communication. Verbal communication involves the use of spoken words and is a common form of communication, whereas, non-verbal includes not only words by gestures, facial expressions, posture, eye contact and body language.…
The legacy of Loma Linda University (LLU) and how it all began, told by Richard A. Schaefer was nothing short of inspirational. Ellen G. White, the pioneer that had the vision and drive to create the foundation we are all apart of today, deserves a tremendous amount of credit. The mission, vision, and values of LLU encompasses the thoughts and theories that Ellen G. White built the empire known as LLU upon. All students have displayed similar values throughout our application process putting us here, at the heart of this wonderful plan. “Making man whole” became the motto of the university and truly encapsulates what we all strive for in life. When I was a child, I would always play pretend by sitting down with my family members or house guests and tear out a piece of notebook paper and hand my “patients” a glass of water. Then I would ask them questions I thought real psychologists would, such as “how are you feeling?” or “so, what brings you here today?”. Experimenting with this role-play as a little girl has allowed me to learn about myself, as well as my interests, to help me decide what I want to be when I grow up. Taking classes on the scientific study of humans and pediatric development, working with kids, and my volunteering experience will help me achieve my goal of becoming a clinical pediatric psychologist.…

Fred is drunk and driving his dad’s car. Fred is a 21 year old student at Columbia College. Fred rams into a parked car at 10th and Rogers. Thinking no one saw him; Fred moves his car and parks it on an adjacent lot. He sprints to his dorm room in Miller Hall. A neighbor saw the wreck and Fred running to the dorm. Police are called and they arrive ten minutes after the wreck. The officers see several empty beer cans and a bottle of tequila (half full) in the front seat. The tags are traced to Fred’s dad, who is called by police. Dad says that Fred is a student at Columbia College. Police run Fred's record and determine that he has two prior DWIs within the past five years. The third DWI in 10 years is a felony. Police contact Columbia College security who leads them to Fred’s dorm. Fred is passed out, so security lets them in. The officers smell intoxicants, give Fred some Field Sobriety tests (he fails) and confirm that he was driving the car. Fred is arrested for DWI. It is his third offense, a felony under Missouri law. Fred is given a breath test, which registers at .13 on the scale. During the processing of his arrest paperwork, the officers search Fred’s possessions which he brought to the station, and a small quantity of cocaine is found in Fred’s pocket. Fred is charged with DWI, leaving the scene, and possession of cocaine. What issues do you see? How should they be resolved? (50 points)…

There are a lot criminals out there, who target children, and I want to contribute everything I can to stop this.…

I first became interested in a career in psychology ever since I was a child. Psychology field has many different opportunities to explore. When I first started college, I did not know what field I wanted to get into. After a few years in college, I realized that I wanted to go into Clinical mental health working with adolescents. During my years in college, I was accepted to do an internship at Naomi Family Center. While I was there I worked with many different specialists in the field of psychology. The most interesting part of the whole experience was working with the therapist who worked with adolescent children. Naomi family specialized in helping women and their children overcome trauma, sexual abuse, sexual assault and chemical dependency.…
In junior year, I was fortunate enough to have an open elective course of Criminal Justice at my school. In class, I acquire a mass of information from my instructor who has retired from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, ATF. Although it was unfortunate that there weren’t enough students who signed up Criminal Justice II for the following year. I had to adjust my core classes in order to continue my criminal justice studies while meeting the requirement to receive an advance diploma and an IB Career Certificate. When I had to make a hard choice to drop orchestra, an elective music class that I have been taking since 5th grade. In order to have enough time to be part of the Criminal Justice II at Marshall High School Academy. The…
Law Enforcement has not always been in my mind as a career choice. As a child I wanted to be a Fire Fighter like alot of kids do. As I grew and became the man I am today, I have learnt something your heart desires one month may not be the same the next. What I lack in education I make up for with life experiences. I had an extremely poor childhood, filled with mental and phisical abuse. Though my past is filled with more stories then I could summarize into this essay, ill do my best. My father abandoned me as a child before i could remember. I was raised by my mother and her many boyfriends, who were not so fond of me. I spent most of my time raising my sister meghan while my mother spent most of her time absent. My mothers poor choices caused…
I have been a Chatham County Deputy for almost 20 years and married to my wonderful wife for the last 17 years. I have three grown kids living on their own and two kids who still live at home. Since 1981, I have been a part of my family’s business and have managed many employees, one being our manager for over 27 years. In the 29 years I have been in law enforcement, I can honestly say it has not been for the money, but for my love of serving my community and the job. I want to be a Staff Sergeant at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office because I am ready to accept a new challenge in my career. Being a Staff Sergeant means being a mentor, a supervisor and a leader. Under the leadership of Sheriff Webster, our agency has earned a reputation of excellence and professionalism among the public and other agencies. Each year we are recruiting more mature and better officers than ever before. These officers have the ability to carry our reputation of excellence and professionalism forward for years to come, but to do so; they must…
