My youth group has created a special place in my life. It provides me with Godly friends and a non-judging environment. After moving around so many times in my life it has become hard to make friends. I have been to many different youth groups and most of them I feel the need to pretend to be who I am not. Thankfully, at Rocky Bayou youth group I can drop my guard and I feel free to talk without feeling judged. Surprisingly enough, I have made multiple friends that are supportive, honest, and amusing. Rocky Bayou youth group makes me feel welcome and free to me without harsh worldly

I was raised Quaker and attended Wrightstown Friends Meeting in Pennsylvania until I eventually moved to North Carolina to attend school. I would rate the community at my Meeting as one of the closest knit groups I have ever been apart of. It is a community in which I miss dearly and hope to expand to North Carolina. The Friends that attended the Meeting were of a very diverse mix of people who complimented each other perfectly. A quote from Peck that seems to fit exactly how I felt in this community is "I was utterly free to be me." I was able to find freedom and love in this…

I got the chance to interview a senior who goes to Casco Bay High School. His name is Zack and he's been at Casco bay since freshman year and this is his 4th and final year at Casco Bay. He's pretty tall and has short-ish red hair. When my whole class met up with seniors to interview I went and found him and everybody and their partner scurried off to start their interview. We went over to a big carpeted area called the great space. We went over to to a corner of the room I grabbed a comfy padded chair with a gold wooden frame.Zack grabbed a short plastic chair made to sit at for the keyboard in the room. Zack is wearing a flannel and I am too, I'm a bit nervous and he seems calm and ready. Around us other groups are starting, noise fills the air from other…

It was the biggest day of the school year. It was near the end of my Freshman year in high school, and I was satisfied with my grades, proud of my diligent work throughout the school year, and adjusted to the high school. Students of all grades at that point were counting down the days until Spirit Night. Spirit Night—a big tradition in Hillsborough High School—excited me. In the event, each grade faces off with one another in multiple competitions in order to acquire spirit points. By the end of the night, the grade with the most spirit points wins. There were activities during the school day, and we would all be packed into the gym and participate in even more activities after school. During the amazing school day, all the students were jubilant…

I started my education at St. Mary Basha Catholic School at age 6 in 2003. I remember learning how to count and making friends. In kindergarten and first grade my best friend was Bo. Bo and I would hang out at recess and at lunch, sometimes we would hang out outside of school as well. Bo left the school after first grade and I made a new best friend for the next three years named Mitchell. We would have BB gun wars in the park by his house and when he came to mine we would go swimming. I remember a lot of the kids from St. Mary's because it was a small school and everyone new each other, however I decided to move to a public school after fourth grade.…

“We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of detrimination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort (Jesse Owens, Olympic Trackstar),” I do not fear the unknown; I fear the day I stop trying to be the best. I cannot change that currently, people are faster than me, but that shouldn’t stop me from taking lead and becoming the best. Each time I race, I think of the pride I will feel afterwards if I give it my all, to take home a win, but also I think of the shame and humiliation I will feel if I don’t. Even if I am not currently the best, I know one day my hard work and mental toughness will pay off in some way, because it’s how badly I want to be the champion, and that is what I work for everyday of…

A self-employed business man once said, “The best example of leadership is leading by example” (Jerry McClain). He describes a true leader, a pioneer whose morals and selflessness guide her to guide others. She is an inspiration, and a beacon of hope for all to follow. I share this passion for helping and guiding by example, and as a member of the National Junior Honor Society, I would seek to better the community just as I do every day inside and outside of the classroom.…

Being a 4-H member for 10 years, I can proudly say that nothing has taught me more than the program of 4-H. 4-H is a youth development program that focuses on agriculture, public speaking, engineering, technology, science and youth leadership for kids ages 5-19. 4-H has been around for one hundred and eleven years but in today’s society, very few people know what it is. I have grown up around animals and 4-H, learned many life lessons, responsibility, how to have friendly competition with people i have grown up with.…

Overall, it is very obvious that the church has as one of its priority the young adults group. I have participated in two of their events and both activities were very interesting. The feeling of being welcome comes naturally, no one comes and asks you what you are doing there, and each person is having their own personal moment. From my experience, “P3” is a very successful program, the fellowship combine with prayer make the program popular among young…

During the last 12 months of my life, I have volunteered a substantial amount of my time in my youth group: Amplified Youth. I currently hold a position on the leadership team and I also lead the media team. 4 years ago, our youth worship team did not have a sound engineer or media team. I took on the task and I learned how to operate the presentation software as well as run the sound board. Since then, I have passed on the knowledge I gained to others and have given them an opportunity to serve and learn more about sound and media. I also currently make promotional videos and other graphics for our services with industry grade software as needed. This experience challenged me because I was held responsible for showing up to practices on a…

Although I have served as a leader in everything from the Humane Society to science club, working as a group leader at my school’s cheerleading camp taught me the most! As a summer camp leader, I was entrusted with a group of thirty campers with ages ranging from four to ten as well as a small group of my peers. I was responsible for teaching the mini-campers how to dance, cheer, and tumble, ultimately preparing them for the parent performance. My additional leadership duties included moving the group to stations on time, creating routines, cheers, and games to keep the kids busy, and finally, settling disagreements among the girls. By the end of the experience, I learned teamwork, patience, and how to mix fun with focus, which ultimately…
