La Verne has four core values: Ethical reasoning, diversity and inclusivity, lifelong learning, and community and civic engagement. I believe that through all of the co curricular activities I have done this semester, I have encompassed all those values into my experiences. Ethical reasoning was used as I learned how to further respect individuals when I went to the LACMA museum. I was exposed to new peoples, new cultures and I had to support art with respect to individuals. This core value was equally important in class as I engaged with many different individuals who shared values that differ from mine, I accepted their differences and respected them through thought. I mentioned earlier that lifelong learning has been a part of my goals throughout my life. Going to museums, reading books, talking to people is all ways that I can continue to learn. I strive to glean any knowledge, I feel as though something can be taken from each experience. Lastly, I was able to develop civic and community engagement skills in predominantly every cocurricular activity and every class. I think I have found a new appreciation for the community as the La Verne community has benefited me with so many special things. Friends, teachers, peers, and citizens have all created a sense of belonging to me in a community. I will forever seek a place in a community because I know how important it is to have an enhanced community
