Current education systems put extra emphasis on classroom time, instruction, and behavior. This extra emphasis leads to the involuntary creation of a unique world where certain educational functions, events, and thought only happen in the classroom. Even more extreme, student only learn in the classroom. Classrooms now put way to much stress on the student and leads to no functional learning outside of the space. You get beat down so hard in the class with information and lecture that when you leave the walls come up and the brain shuts down. I agree with the words of Professor Burack. He stated, “We must disabuse student of the notion that two world exist…There is a single world…” (Boris Burack). Outside of the classroom is where you will actually live your life. You don’t get married in the in the classroom or even pay your bills there so why limit your mental growth to only inside that designated space.
I believe Professor Burack wanted educators to present material in way that did not coax students into just a classroom setting. In example can be found in math, you are given these lengthy word problems where only under the most extreme circumstance will I visually see it being applicable. I feel that every student should go out on a field trip of sorts and see what they can. It doesn’t even have to be an educational trip. Just the bonding of students and the professor can form a connection that makes learning new material easier on thousands of levels. There is reason that team building camps and school functions exist. They bring people closer together so that barriers are down and you can take in all information you need about that person, or in the case of school,
