This movie was based on a true life story of Sean Tuohy and Leigh Anne. It begins with a Caucasian family who takes this homeless African American teenager whose name is Michael, but called Big Mike. While Michaels mom lived in a drug infested projects, he never knew who his father was. Michael had very little to no education and very limited skills to help him get ahead in society. After watching this homeless young man, Leann decides he will come and live with them and help provide him the opportunity to successful. Maslows theoretical approach was the one for Michael, often when individuals have been provided with an abundance of necessities we become complacent in our situation. If Michaels need as a child been met, his struggle could have been different he would have learned good and bad coping skills. Michaels adolescent years affected his social behavior unable to effectively communicate, education opportunities and difficulty opening up or adjusting to white urban lifestyle and way of living. He was profoundly amazed to know how easy finances could make a persons lifestyle. Fortunately, his mothers addiction did not impact his neurological system. Conclusion The impact and effect of Maslows Hierarchy Theory explains how a persons performance and characteristics can be interpreted depending on a theoretical approach.
