According to Republican nominee Donald Trump, abortion should be illegal. He is pro-life. The Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, is for abortion. She is pro-choice. If Trump wins the presidency, he would appoint Supreme Court justices who are pro-life.
He believes the decision, as to if abortion should be illegal, should be brought back to the state government to decide and if he wins, he will do that. According to an interview with CBN News in 2011, Trump used to be pro-choice but after hearing and seeing a friend’s experience, as well as many others, he changed his views (Brody). Many people think their tax dollars do not fund abortions, but they somewhat do. The Hyde Amendment prevents Medicaid from funding abortions except for limited cases such as rape or incest, as well as life endangerment (Conover). As a Christian, I believe life begins at conception; therefore, I do no want my tax dollars to pay for someone to abort their baby. (Behna). Hillary Clinton is pro-choice. She is for abortion and believes the government should have no say in women’s health decisions. She will stand up for Planned Parenthood and does not want to defund them unlike Donald Trump. Hillary is for partial-birth abortion. Partial-birth abortion is when a baby is pulled through the birth canal feet first except for the head. She voted against a ban on late term and partial-birth abortions (Desanctis). Even if the Hyde Amendment prevents taxpayers money from being used to fund abortions, their money is still being used to fund it if the pregnancy occurs as a result of rape or incest, or life endangerment of the individual (Conover). Hillary Clinton even stated that she rejects the law that Congress tried to pass banning abortion after 20 weeks with no exception (Condon). I could not imagine the pain the baby feels if terminated late in pregnancy. Actually, I cannot imagine it at any point during the pregnancy. As a Christian, I do not stand for this. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing. So many women take it for granted. There are women who cannot have children because they are infertile or for other reasons and would love to have children. There are other resources available for women who do not want to keep their child. One option that they have is adoption. Many women who are infertile would love to adopt and there are adoption agencies throughout the United States that will help them with the process. I believe every life is precious and a gift from God; therefore, abortion should not be an option.
