Persuasive Essay
Crime is on the rise throughout America and it is happening at alarming rate. The offenders are getting younger and younger and they seem to have no respect for other people property or values. Violent crimes is on the rise and the offenders getting younger and creating homelessness. This is just part of what I want to discuss in my essay.

Violent crimes
I feel that violent crimes has been on the increase for years, with the increase of drugs, gang members, declining academic standards plus the increase of substandard living and outsourcing our jobs has convinced me that our society is on the skids.
America certainly has more violence than other rich countries such as Europe or Japan or even Canada. Crimes such as Murder, robberies and assaults are more in America than other countries. The best available indicator of long-term trends imbalance is the murder rate. And Americans chance of being murdered was relatively low in the 1950s and early 60s it doubled between 1964 and 1974, remain high from 74 to 1980, declines symmetrically between 1980 and 1985 and is back up in the late 80s. In 1989 the murder rate was higher than they have been from 1983 to 1988, lower than they have been from 1972 to 1982 and higher that have been from 1950 to 1972 the surveys comes from people who have been victims of crimes––suggested nonlethal violence has followed the same trajectory. (Violent Crime, n.d).

Younger offenders

In today's society offenders are becoming younger and younger. With the increase of gang violence and younger offenders being homeless; younger offenders are being placed in adult institutions and being charged with felony crimes. Inside the correctional facilities you will find gang members that are incarcerated with gang affiliations from outside the institutions. Once they are incarcerated some if not most realign themselves with the gang affiliations inside the institution. Some of the gang affiliations are the Aryan Nation, Bloods and Crips just to name a few. In Ohio the one game that most correctional facilities are having a issue with is the heartless felons. This gang is one of the most violent gangs inside the institution. It originated from Cleveland Ohio and has spread throughout the state there is no affiliation with any other gangs such as the Bloods, or the Crips and there are not very organize as a gang. The number of heartless felons has increased over the years and an alarming rate and the destructive actions has no meaning to anyone but just them.

Homelessness
Children as young as 13 are being released from custody without a safe place to live, forcing them into a cycle of homelessness and reoffending, research has shown.
Young people who offend are among the most vulnerable in society; a quarter have special educational needs and almost a 5th have depression, yet children as young as 13 are sent back to families who can't cope and end out without a safe place to live,” said Anne Marie Carrie, Barnado’s chief executive (" The Guardian", 2007). With some of the youth coming from broken families, low income families and even families that are struggling to support the household and the failing economy. This is creating a vicious cycle where we are not supporting or giving the educational needs to our young people along with their depression are not being medically treated. Kids are being released from juvenile facilities and then incarcerated and 2 adult facilities with some of the issues still remain the same.

Conclusion
Crime is on the rise in today society due to certain gang activities; which in some cases can be very violent. The increase of gangs, the heartless felons just to name one. Has produced more violence in Ohio and even restructured the prison philosophy's on housing incarcerated inmates. Part of oh DRC's new philosophy is the reintegration try to prepare some of the inmates to return to society and be productive within their community. Recognizing their depressions and being treated for it is just one step in the process. Different programs within institution prepare them to get back in the community and be productive in the workforce. Although I feel that crime is on the rise I also feel that it is the economy that is the main cause of it all.

Along with the serious issue of guns playing a huge role in the part of violence in America, another issue is the income inequality and poverty in America. In parts of the country that are lower class, it is filled with inadequate levels of housing and healthcare and unemployment. It has been noted that the lower socioeconomic class engages in more criminal activity than those that are considered financially well off. These people tend to be desperate for whatever they can get. Usually they can barely afford to live day to day and most times are extremely likely to suffer from some form of mental disorder. Also the level, if any, of motivation toward hopefully one day being successful, is most times usually non exists.…

When compared with other Western-industrialized nations, the United States has the highest crime rate. It is a daunting question as to why, especially in the age we live in now. One might just boil it down to being a consequence of an ongoing population boom, the idea being that when there are more people, there is going to be more criminal activity. While this is obviously true, it is not even coming close to touching on the big picture. There are many societal factors that can influence a person to commit crime, from the hardened street thug to the typical law-abiding citizen.…

The environment where a person grows up in which could consist of gangs that participate in illegal activities. Abuse of drugs or alcohol attribute to crime because people commit abominable crimes while under the influence. Before I plunge into my comparison of different forms of violence over time, I would like to explain why people falsely assume that the world today is more violent than ever before. One main reason is the effective manipulation of the media (Goldstein). Today, one has access to infinite media sources, which makes it very hard to miss out on major news. It is important to note that this large-scale exposure leads to more detailed information about violence, but does not mean there is more violence (Goldstein). Furthermore, advanced technology in the last two decades has enriched the forms of media in which news is delivered, including…

Why is crime and violence high in America? Crime and violence is high in America because there are people in America as it is all over the world that cannot follow rules. There are thieves, rapist, and murders in every place in America. My expectations were not met. The crime rate is not high in every place in America. I found out that crime is high in communities with high poverty rate more so than any other community. This information causes my perspective to change greatly. I look at crime in a different way after doing this research paper. Crime is committed by people that have mental problems or they are on drugs. Also, some movies watched by individuals can play a role in some crimes being committed. Some individuals think it is ok to perform these acts of crime. This information is an eye opener to me. I would have never known this information if it was not for doing this research paper. I have come to the conclusion that I will never find the answers that I am looking for. There is no way that anyone in the wild could have an answer to why crime and violence is high in America. My opinion on why crime and violence is high is because people don’t seem to have a heart or respect others. This opinion has changed because the person committing crimes may get pleasure from it who knows. In my research the book Reducing Gun Violence (2012), I got a clear understanding of violent crime that relates to guns. This book talked about how gun crimes can be cut down, and what people in authority can do to make these changes. I feel that my research is inspiring because it demonstrates how crime and violent have impacted many communities here in America. I put a lot of time and energy in finding information on my why question and formatting my paper correctly. In my research I have come to a new point. Is there a thing as good…

In 2007, 11,251,828 crimes were committed each day in the U.S, with 1,408,337 of them considered violent (Chacha.com/society & culture). The crime rate has decreased significantly since then. Despite years of study and research, crime experts are still not certain why people commit crime or why some people become crime victims (Siegel, Worral, 2012 pg90). There are many reasons why millions of Americans commit crime today. For example unemployment, there’s people who have problems and are seeking attention, there’s also people who are battling with certain disorders (bipolar, personality disorder etc.) 1% of Americans have Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD). The majority of people with the disorder end up involved in crime (toptenz.net). There are people who have faced traumatic events in their lifetime and they turn to drugs or alcohol. More than 50% of serious crimes committed in the United States are drug or alcohol related. There are also people who…
