Personally, I think that any form of abortion is tantamount to murder, and should never be permitted. This article only brings to my attention that women who wish to have abortions are only concerned for themselves, as the argument is based upon the health of the woman. Although the author’s argument may be valid concerning some facets of the issue, I believe the focus of the subject should shift from the mother to the living creature inside and its right to…

B. Thesis: Abortion is a highly controversial topic in America. The act of disregarding a human life and terminating a pregnancy should only be performed on women who have been victims of rape, incest, or failed contraception. Instances where the pregnancy is terminated because the child threatens the health and well being of the female should also be a valid reason for an abortion to be performed. Other than those circumstances listed, the fetus should have the right to develop and have a life of its own.…

Due to unwanted pregnancies and financial distress, many children are often mistreated and neglected which leads to the idea of abortion as the right decision. Mistreatment and neglect to the child may occur from the mother because the child resembles his or her father, which will be a continuous reminder of what happened (Meehan, Mary 1). It is also not right for a woman to have to go through full-term pregnancy with a child that has been conceived through rape (Maheen, Mary 3). Abortion is necessary for women who have fallen victim to rape or for women who are not financially able to support a family.…

Understanding that abortion is murder aids a woman in making the healthiest decision for her and her baby. Though a mother may not want her baby, she must keep in mind her health, and that there are other viable options such as adoption that don’t end in death. Many couples who are not blessed with fertility would be very glad to make this baby live a happy life. Abortion is a controversial topic around the world. There are two groups when talked about when discussing this topic: pro-life and pro-choice. People believing in pro-life want to make abortion illegal. They believe it is not only wrong, but is cruel to kill an unborn child. It also can be harmful to the mother. Dorothy Shaw, president-elect of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) is quoted in the article “Unsafe Abortions Kill Thousands of Women, Experts Say” by Kuala Lumpar calming “Unsafe abortion is a serious public health problem for women, accounting for 13 percent of all maternal deaths globally each year (1).” Kuala Lumpar of the Agence France Presse [a French newspaper] goes on to state “Some 70,000 women worldwide die from unsafe abortions each year while many more suffer serious injuries, especially in poor countries…(1)” These are both valid points; but what if a woman is raped and becomes pregnant, if there is a fatal problem with the unborn child, or if the mother becomes fatally ill? If abortions became illegal families would be left with nothing but heartache and sorrow for something that can ultimately be fixed.…

One of the most controversial topics within society today, abortion has become an issue to many. There are those who believe a woman has a right to choose whether or not she wants to have a baby while others feel that killing a human being because of the irresponsible decision of a woman or a man is inhumane and should be restricted by law. I believe that a woman has the right to choose whether or not to go through with abortion. Although I do feel that irresponsibility should not lead to the death an unborn child, it is imperative that a person’s rights not be violated.…

There are many reasons why a woman would choose to have an abortion. Their mental and physical state after they would have to care for a child that they were unable to or did not want to care for is one reason. Another reason could be if the fetus was known to have severe abnormalities found through testing and ultrasounds while the mother was pregnant. Some women however cannot handle having a child at all, regardless of the health condition of the fetus or baby. The author chose two different scenarios to give an example of why a woman might have an abortion. The first scenario was that if the fetus was going to be disabled when born it would be a risk to the mother’s mental health. The second scenario was if the mother lost her partner while pregnant and felt that she was not capable of caring for a child by herself. The author of this journal is trying to prove that killing a newborn should be allowed in all cases where abortion is allowed, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.…
